During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in Canada and around the world. With their “Mo’s”, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer.

On Movember 1st, guys register at Movember.com with a clean-shaven face. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.

Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words, they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.

No, don't tell me! It was seeing "moustachioed" Sminthurinus elegans springtails around, that gave me the idea of attempting some Movember activity. I think this one is a good match for my rather poor progress to date. Got a couple of weeks to go though!

These springtails are just visible to the naked eye. As is my moustache ...

840'000 Men (mobro's) took part in a Charity Moustache grow during the month of Movember in 2011 raising nearly £80m for Prostate and Testicular Charities, this year, i'm one of them... spliting my efforts between the charity mentioned above and Cancer Research UK. 1 in 3 of us have a brush with Cancer during our lifetime

Anything given goes straight to the Charities concerned

Before anyone says anything, no potatoshopping involved here and no i'm not ginger, just parts of my beard are :-)

Thank you!

After a long day at work, I fell asleep on the couch, waking at 11:50pm realising I hadn’t taken my shot yet.

But I made it, check the exif if you must … 11:59PM …. just by a whisker.

And with whisker’s in mind, todays image is brought to you by Movember, a month where “selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo growing efforts.

So if you see someone sporting a hirsute upper lip this month, do stop, stare and even point ... but don’t laugh ... make sure you applaud & get out your wallet to help the selfless Mo Bro in his efforts to raise money for prostate cancer & depression.

One of the funniest portraits I've taken this far. My friend playing around with tripod and mobro tattoos...

My last Friday update featuring the old fizzog for the Movember charity - at least for 2014!

This Movember, I've committed to changing the face of men's health. mobro.co/allenwalker

I'm passionate about this cause because 1 in 8 men in the UK are diagnosed with a common mental disorder at any one time. Many men find the stigmas associated with mental health lead to feelings of shame and embarrassment, which often prevents them from seeking help and taking action. We must change this.

The Movember Foundation is working tirelessly every day to rid the world of this discrimination and to ensure men and boys experiencing mental health problems know the signs and to take action early.

I’m taking action to raise funds and awareness for men’s mental health but I can’t do it alone. If you feel as strongly as I do about men's mental health problems, sign up for Movember. Guys, sign up today and grow a Mo. Ladies, sign up to support the men in your life:

Find out more about why you should join me this Movember, by checking out the work we’re doing to take action to support men suffering from mental health challenges: uk.movember.com/programs

Thanks for joining me in helping to change the face of men's health.

We’re in this together.

Come out and join the fun as the crazies take over the Studio K for OOrwarmers & Zeetbandjes this Friday on 11.11.11. They have graciously agreed to donate €2.50 from every ticket sold to fight prostate cancer and raise awareness of mens health to show support for Movember. Even better is that myself and 9 other hairy ambassodors will be competing in a Mo(de) show and collecting for the NKI-AVI charity fund.

Come celebrate one of the craziest days of the year at this unique indoor festival with part of the night devoted to live performance, stand-up comedy, and more followed by filthy beats to fire up the dance machine powered by REDEVICE.

Since it is once again the month of Movember. I'm part of a team of lip-wig farmers at work (called appropriately, DFMo.)

If you think I look good in a moustache, please consider donating. If you think I look terrible, disgusting, creepy, or hilarious in a moustache, please consider donating. Your donation goes towards raising awareness around and research into prevention of prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and suicide among men.

You can donate here: mobro.co/13640469. You can also see more photos of my moustaches over the years while you're there (if you like that sort of thing.) As little as $5 helps us towards our goal. Thanks!

Dear Flickr Friends

This year I am participating in Movember, a charity event promoting Men's Health.

I, along with thousands of other men around the world, will be growing a moustache. My personal choice is the David Niven, and as you can see I've had a snazzy haircut to match :)

If you have a few spare quid, bucks, rupees, krona or yen, please pop over to my Mo Space page to sponsor me...thanks

Our daily challenge....window...because you have a one month window in which to sponsor me! Ok, I know it's a stretch, but I really wanted to ODC gang to see this!

Charly Egan, winner of Ultimate Mo at the Dublin 2009 Movember gala parte in Tripod on the 3rd of December.

People! I hereby put forth A Movember Challenge!

Last year you helped me raise $542 for prostate cancer research. I want to double that this year.

If I can raise $1100 by Movember 23rd, I will dye my moustache a funky colour and wear it proudly for the last week of Movember. I shall post pictures, in fact attached is a simulation of what I might look like on Movember 24th if you are up for the challenge.

I actually think Grecian Formula and Just For Men are pretty darn funky. I know you may feel otherwise. So there is a second part to the challenge. If the $1100 goal is met then the person who has donated the most money can pick the colour I will use.

I had chosen $200 as the price for this honour, but it has already been met by one of my co-workers! Ed Carey will pick the colour ... unless you outbid him and stay ahead of him. Pass the hat, have an individual donate it on behalf of your group, you could steal the honour away from Ed! (in the event of a tie, I may allow for two colours!)

Right now I'm at $272, a quarter of the way to my goal.

I thank you, and my prostate thanks you.

In case you aren't convinced that I'm willing to embarrass myself for this cause, I give to you my Movember 2010 Timelapse Move: www.flickr.com/photos/suraky/5208242739/

Update Nov 11th, I'm 55% of the way to my goal! $603. I'd like to hit $1100. Please consider donating, it's a very worthy cause. If you're male and you live long enough Prostate Cancer is a problem you will encounter.

Update Dec 1st, 2011. Movember is done! I managed to attract a crazy amount of donations, from friends, family, and coworkers. My coworkers competed to own my mo and pick colours for it. I bleached my mo, I dyed my mo, twice. I suffered through a lot of strange looks on the street but it was for a good cause. My final number was: $5420!!! My company raised $37,850, almost twice our total from last year and more money than was raised by the country of Spain! As a team we finished 23rd in Canada. I personally (thanks to my team's efforts) finished at 128th place as an individual. I was told that I may have had the top number for Vancouver but I don't know how to confirm if this is true.

I don't know what I'll do next year, but I won't be dying my Mo! hehe

Day 10 of Movember! As my stache grows, I'm hoping donations will to. Please help fight cancer here: mobro.co/billdabney

A Friday update on day 14 of my little effort towards the Movember charity event. Thanks to people's generousity, I have so far raised £85 towards male cancer issues.
