These are some of the biggest clouds I've seen at golden hour in Monument Valley in my last 4 trips. If you have a great shot of MV with nice clouds consider yourself lucky. :) This was taken during a 4 day blitz of the southwest with Flickr friend and photographer William McIntosh.

Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my photos, and as always, your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!! Have a great weekend everybody!! :)

The East Mitten butte is one of the most famous landmarks in Monument Valley, as well as being one of the closest to the main visitor centre.

The pond of water was a fortunate remnant from overnight storms.

The horses were joined by other animal species, which, with their different requirement profiles and characters, have special educational effects on the target groups: 14 horses, two ponies, six llamas, a donkey, a mule and two camels came to the Raphaelshaus. Plus of course geese, peacocks and dogs.

Mittens at the back door

I just was wandering around in search of some foreground as the sun was setting down the Monument valley. I came across this place and no one was around here...so I planted my tripod and went for a sunset shoot from this place. I had already done my sunset shoot of the mittens from the entrance rocks which was so cliched...so thought I should do something about it..

Monument valley is a heavily visited place. There is a restaurant where you can sip a drink and sit back and watch the sun paint the mittens with light! There are a very few things in life that can calm you down as much as this...

This one is from my archives as rain and clouds ruined my plan of getting out for a shoot this weekend...Thanks for viewing and have a nice weekend :)

From Echo Park a social trail leads up to the base of the cliffs and then winds along several benches going downstream to Mitten Park, which takes its name from Mitten Fault. The fault crosses Green River just beyond the beach--it is visible in this photo as sedimentary rocks pointed to the sky, rather than horizontally, as they are in the background. The shifts from horizontal to vertical and then back again are abrupt--spectacular.

From the confluence of the Yampa and the Green in Echo Park, to Mitten Park, the river is placid and inviting. Shortly after the water goes around the bend in this photo, the water enters whirlpool canyon, which rafters have referred to as a thrill.

East and West Mitten, Monument Valley. The Mittens are so named because when viewed from the south, the two buttes appear to be two gigantic mittens with their thumbs facing inwards. This photo was taken behind two large boulders near the Observation Deck.

It is actually common for rocks to give way to gravity and fall from features such as mountains, towers and walls in the west. It is rare that it is seen by many. I was fortunate to be in Monument Valley with my camera out as one of the Mittens had a rock slide that created significant dust clouds that were peachy in color due to the redness of the earth in that location.

Wolfie stole my mitten out of my pocket and ran away. He did leave it though and didn't chew it. His dad says he will steal anything, but when being given a treat? He is the gentlest dogs I have ever encountered. This was before the theft in Lincoln Park Dog Park, Grand Forks, ND

The right and left mittens in Monument Valley. It had been raining earlier but cleared to allow the golden hour sun to shine through.
