I've been on a bit of a Flickr hiatus again. This time it has been for a sad reason, as Montana is no longer with us. After living 3 times longer than the average life expectancy for a cat diagnosed with congestive heart failure, his kidneys had enough.

We had to take him for an emergency veterinarian visit on Sunday, Feb. 26 where we learned that his kidneys were failing. We took him home to be in "kitty hospice", but by Monday noon, Feb. 27, he took a major turn for the worse and lost the use of his front and back legs, so we had him put to sleep. We couldn't bare to watch him suffer. It is always a hard decision to make, but it was the right decision and I am at peace with it. I miss him terribly, but will always have those precious memories.

Missing you ..

I'm not sure how this would have happened. Perhaps during the winter due to moisture.

Every time I think of you

I always catch my breath

And I'm still standing here

And you're miles away

And I'm wondering why you left

And there's a storm that's raging

Through my frozen heart tonight

I hear your name in certain circles

And it always makes me smile

I spend my time

Thinking about you

And its almost driving me wild

And there's a heart that's breaking

Down this long distance line tonight.. I miss you.

Parts are missing on this Murray, Iowa barn but it is still in use. We met the son of the owner while taking these shots.

when you miss some one ..

you feel like you're alone in this world

hope you like it

Looking miserable in drizzly Birmingham and missing the sunny south ex Devon General MTT 649* stands on a patch of waste ground facing a possible

future as a contractors vehicle. The bus is an AEC RT111 fitted with Weymann H30/26R body, it was numbered DR649 and new in March 1951. A picture of this exists (on Flickr, Paul Webber) of this bus in the yard of Transport Passenger Equipment of Macclefield, also taken in 1964, I do not know whether it is before or after mine but the other bus would be MTT 647 if they travelled together.

*This bus has appeared on Flickr at this site before but owing to my fine and comprehensive negative filing system the negatives were separated, this is a slightly better view.

This, of course, is Jinxie. He’s become quite a house-cat since we moved into our new home. Since we moved in, he stays indoors almost all the time, where before he seemed to prefer being outside. Maybe it’s the big windows in the new house… he spends most of his time sitting on the window sills.

A very sad thing has happened though. Last Wednesday I went to the front door and found Fuzzy sopping wet and covered with mud. The only thing I could think of that another cat beat him up (there has been a big male stray cat hanging around lately). I took Fuzzy inside and gave him a bath, but I didn’t find any wounds on him. He seemed fine, just very muddy and wet. Later that night he was whining to go out. So I put him on the porch and checked on him every so often. He was just sitting on the porch with the other cats, so I assumed he was OK. About an hour later when I looked, he was gone. I figured he went off to go to the bathroom, but he did not come back, even though I called and called for him. The next day he was still gone, and I discovered that Baby was missing too. I can’t imagine what could have happened to them. It’s been almost a week now, and I have not been able to find either of them. I’ve looked everywhere… even trekked through the snow and the woods calling them, but still they have not come home. Baby has gone off before, so I’m still hopeful that he’ll be back, but Fuzzy has never ever wandered. I feel so badly about it, and I wish I had not put him back outside that night. Please say a prayer that he will come home! I know Jinxie misses Fuzzy - they spent so much time curled up in my bed together.

Terrible news that a Japanese tourist is still missing off Bondi Beach. He went swimming yesterday and disappeared in the strong surf. The wind was howling from the south and the beach was deserted. Rescue helicopters and police boats were deployed and the Bondi Surf Life Savers were on their jet ski's. Waiting for some good news.

'Missing' was an image created to stimulate the viewers creativity. A picture paints a thousand words. Does this picture inspire a story? What story do you see?

He came with peace

They made holes in his hands

and sent him on a wooden train

I tried to close the pierce

They vanish me in no land

and made hole in my brain

I hued from the blues

I went Red on all the news

They said that I’m insane

I looked away depressed

Bones and flesh I dressed

I even showed my veins

But I can’t change my view…I’m missing my visual cortex!

Sadly, Goober passed away last week, he was such a sweet and loyal friend, and he will be missed more then words can say.

He truly was the best dog I have ever known. He wasn't actually our dog, he belonged to our neighbor, but he adopted us all. He walked the grandkids to the bus every morning, and waited for them to get home. Kept all the country critters away, he protected us. Last night we saw a possum on our back porch...without Goober, I expect all the creatures will get closer. I saw four deer crossing the yard, closer than usual. Goober took his job seriously, and we often heard him barking in the night, keeping those visitors away.

He was adorable, and I did my best to make him into an "internet star" here on Flickr, my friends will remember him, he was my favorite subject. Several of his images had over 2,500 views, and one even made Explore! I will post some pictures of him in the comments. There was something special about Goober, he had a loving kindness in him that is hard to explain, but he was just a wonderful dog! He will be missed very much ♥
