The Spectacled Bear (Tremarctos ornatus), also known as the Andean bear (or locally as ukuko, jukumari, or ucumari) is a relatively small species of bear and lives primarily in South America. They very good climbers and have been known to climb even the tallest trees in the Andes. The population is under threat due to local farmers believing that they will kill their livestock even though it is not believed that Andean bears are large meat eaters.
