I have used a reversing ring and close up filters on my old trusty 50mm lens for some time to get close-up pictures and I finally bought a macro lens. Not having to get as close to the subject is a plus.
For this picture I used an off camera flash on a ttl cord at much reduced power. The lower power and correspondingly shorter duration time of the flash helped to freeze the bee's wings. Since numerous bees were feeding on the mint blossoms in our garden, I sat on a stool and shot away. This was one of the images that I liked.

its that time of year. early march is when i realize ive failed once again to find girl scout cookies. why are they only for sale in february? where do all of the unsold cookies go? why are there no girl scouts in my hood? where are you? and do you like money?i have money and i am ready to purchase a years worth of thin mints and samoas. i think of all those slow crawls past the grocery store, rubbernecking but youre not there. youre everywhere but here and it really bums me out. im always sad until i realize all of the easter candy is on sale now.
Mint Flower (I just got one stem out of my brother's mints and that has grown really well in a pot) ... now there are flowers.

Mint Chocolate Deer likes to eat cold ice cream cake on her birthday because it is in the Winter. After she is finished, she drinks white hot chocolate to warm up and looks out the window at the falling snow.

So, I bit of frustration on this photo. I drove 6 hours to visit Sheridan WY to take a photo of this bar only to find out that they closed a good portion of Main St because they were having a concert. The gentleman at the entrance was nice enough to let me in for a minute to take a photo of the Mint Bar. There was another neon sign a few blocks down but the street was also closed. I think I could have taken a better photo but I felt rushed. Plus there were a lot of people in the way because of the concert.
