Minter Gardens is located in the Fraser Valley in British Columbia and is well known for its floral displays.
These little guys are the tubers of Mint Root, or Stachys affinis; a crunchy, juicy, minty perennial vegetable. I planted one plant last year in my backyard forest garden, which is part shade, and was delighted to dig these up today to see how much they had spread! Each tuber sprouts into its own plant and creates many of its own tubers, which means this fall I'll actually be able to eat these beyond a tiny nibble. They are almost like a jerusalem artichoke in texture and are said to be great steamed, sauteed or even pickled!

The insects are usually in such a frenzy around the garden mint that it is a challenge to capture a good image when some stay still for a moment. This one shows a few varied insects enjoying mint-flavoured nectar!
This necklace is made of plastic recycled of water bottles. I've added also a part with rhinestone repurposed from old jewelry.

watermelon chunks with a mint leaf and sea salt on each one plus a dollop of chevre + creme fraiche. My mom accidentally bought lemon-flavored chevre, but it imparted a good flavor.

Everything I read about mint said that it was quite invasive, but I wasn't prepared for it to try growing roots past its planter.
Look at all my little mint soldiers on top of my monitor. Only got a few more to go now to complete the set (full span of monitor). Can you help? - have YOU got a mint that differs from the ones pictured here?
The last year of opperation for this beautiful garden. Chilliwack, BC Canada.
My mother, wife and I went for a drive to Minter Gardens, located near Vancouver, BC. An enjoyable time was had by all.

The model is finished in Jet Black & Adventurer Gold.
Had the macro lash up out again, you I am always amazed by the quality and detail in these for a £15 Olympus OM 50mm f1.8 lens reverse mounted to the body with a reversing ring with a cable tie around the DOF preview button on the lens so that the aperture ring works to some extent.
This shot is of the flower on top of some of the Mint in the garden, foreground lit with onboard flash (no batteries in the off camera one and I was feeling lazy)
