My 42nd floor hydroponic balcony garden. I grow various kinds of lettuce and salad greens here, as well as a few culinary herbs. This year I am also growing tomatoes for the first time.

this is the perfect ice cream for when you have a cold.

While I was in Europe a friend ordered a mint tea and it came out with real mint stalks and leaves infusing in the hot water. I had never seen mint tea like that before. In Australia it is always dried mint leaves and I have never really liked the taste. My neighbour has mint growing in the garden so I decided to give this a try for my lunch. Absolutely delicious.

a glass of mint tea adds a touch of warmth to the cold confines of the cafe, while a soft drizzle transformed into a heavy downpour which was soon accompanied by hail stones.

visibility was rained out and we along with a few others were very nearly stranded out there in the cold, with a great likelihood of having to spend the night in the stone shelter, braving the weather.

thankfully the rain diminished for a bit, and we made a dash for it homeward. soaked and exhilarated at the spot of unexpected adventure, we readied ourselves for our overnight bus to Manali. :)

Mint tea is useful in headache, insomnia, dizziness, malaise and fatigue, sweating at night, to strengthen the nerves, reducing symptoms in the menstrual cycle. It is thought that by eating two to five cups of mint tea a day can significantly reduce the increased hair growth.

Abby with the first sip of a Mint Mojito from Philz Coffee. I made her pose this way for a few shots while I got the right exposure down - so I think the actual first big sip was even better than expected after having the temptation sitting right there for a full minute. This was part way thru a fantastic morning/afternoon of walking and eating our way thru the Mission. Always a fun way to spend the day!

Abby's mom just passed away unexpectedly a few days ago, so I wanted to post this cute little shot to send her some love and happy thoughts/memories from San Francisco.

Mint Mojito = muddled fresh spearmint, soy milk, ice and one of the amazing Philz coffee blends brewed to order. Holy fucking shit is this drink GOOD!
