Oh my, no osprey? A flower? Yea, I guess I got to show my softer side once in a while. These were inspired from so many great macro shots that are being posted lately. You know who you are.

This was taken with a Canon 70-200 2.8L. I got to get a macro lens.

A nice flat bed / pickup Mini from the 1970s seen at the 2015 Messingham Show in North Lincolnshire. The Minis on show in the classic car display were from the local Trent Valley Mini Owners Club.

My images are processed to look good on my laptop, and they do look good on there - and on my phone and tablet - I am aware though that some other screens will show my images as either too dark or indeed too light. This is due to individual screen settings and not my inability to produce a clear image ....

Mighty Bright.

Good things come in small packages and this little ray of sunshine is no exception. New in the YP Garage is a lightly tuned R56 Mini Cooper S, resplendent in Mellow Yellow. Featuring a proper front splitter, boost gauges and sport seats and a dual exhaust out back, this properly fun Cooper has been putting smiles on ALL the faces :).

I hope you enjoy!

I have assembled the mini Avengers! They came out pretty cool. I know Hulk should be bigger than the rest of them, but I like the uniform scale.

Have a nice Monday everyone!

The roof of the car still has an amusing appearance! It reminds me of someone with a haircut in which the hair is trimmed very short up to a line above the person’s ears.

Finished up my Starflower quilt top today! I used this block from Modify Tradition. I am pretty happy with how it has turned out so far. I used four of my favorite black and white Alexander Henry prints.

I think I'll probably use left over scraps for the backing since it will be on the wall and probably a black and white polka for the binding :)

Quite an early Mini under a good coating of ivy.

These mini chocolate swirl cakes, sweet buns and donuts are made of clay. They were popular in Asia approximately 3-4 years ago (probably still are!). They're delicately hand made and each of them was made with passion.

This is the how the Soma Mini Velo fender project ends. I ended up finding New Old Stock fenders from the late 50s by a company called McCaulay Metal Products. At first I was kinda iffy on the fold/fin on the front fender. Now I love it. I was originally looking for just a regular fender like a Wald or if SKS made a 20" model in silver. These fenders suit Bubo nicely.

I made a mini plush of my dog.

"The Mini is the small car icon of the 1960s. It was produced by BMC (British Motor Corporation) starting with 1959 and was the first car to get the front-wheel-drive.

This space saving solution influenced all the manufacturers, as nowadays FWD is the most popular drive-train layout.

The new MINI was launched in 2001 and got to replace the legend with updates for the 21st Century.

The revolutionary design of the Mini was created by Sir Alec Issigonis (1906–1988), considered a visionary in industrial transportation.

It was intended as an affordable vehicle in response to the oil crisis.

Along its production period it was built at the Cowley plants in the United Kingdom, and afterwards in Australia, Belgium, Chile, Italy, Portugal, South Africa, Spain, Uruguay and Venezuela.

(...)

The Mini was designed as a result of the 1956 Suez Crisis, which reduced oil supplies, and forced the UK government saw to introduce petrol rationing.

(...)

Issigonis, that was reputed as being very skilled in designing small vehicles was assigned to this task. Together with a small team of designers Issigonis got to produce the original prototype by October 1957.

The new vehicle was using a conventional BMC four-cylinder water-cooled engine, but had the innovation of mounting it transversely with the the engine oil lubricated, four-speed transmission placed in the sump, and with FWD."

"The First Mini in production version shown to the press in April 1959, and by August several thousand vehicles had been produced ready for sales.

The name “Mini” was not used form the beginning of production. In early advertising material was used the name “SE7EN”. An already famous Morris model at that time was the Minor, which is Latin for “smaller”. So, for the even smaller car the decided to use the abbreviation for the Latin word “minimus”, which means “the smallest”.
