My third and final image that I took on Friday after spending the day hiking fourteen miles up Catbells (1,479ft), High Spy (2,142ft) and Dale Head (2,470ft) alongside Derwentwater in the Lake District and I have to say that my body was broken but my mind was strong and the sense of satisfaction and achievement immense.
The Lake District has enjoyed several weeks of pure blistering sunshine and temperatures in the mid to high 20's yet today (on the day that I go with a friend of mine), the rain came down, the temps plummeted to around 14 degrees and the wind picked up and the whole scene of Causey Pike from Catbells looked incredibly threatening but I would always take these kind of conditions over pure blue skies and no clouds any day of the week.
I took up my Canon 5D MK4 DSLR complete with the Benro Angel carbon fibre travel tripod (FTA28CV1) and it was bloody fantastic. Small and compact, lightweight, strong and stable even in the wind. I took this image using it. Amazing piece of kit. Super impressed.
Well it's time for a shower now and something to eat followed by relaxing in front of the TV and falling asleep no doubt. The fancy piece of watch tech on Trish's wrist recorded that we had walked 29,000 steps and 22.48km. Phew. Night all :D

This was my first time shooting with the Mindshift Panorama and the Filter Hive. It made working with the tripod and filters so much easier because there was nowhere good to set my bag down here. I was easily able to add my 4x4 panel CPL and swap between my 2 and 3 stop soft GNDs.
Another wonderful day spent in the Lake District today on a 1-2-1 private tuition day with a lovely American chap called David..
The weather was perfect with lovely blue skies, white fluffy clouds and some amazing directional lighting to boot.I decided to show David around the fantastic remains of the Roman fort on Hardknott Pass.
This location is fascinating. For those not familiar with the Roman Fort on Hardknott Pass, here's a brief history lesson.
The Roman Fort, one of the loneliest outposts of the Roman Empire, built between AD120 and AD138 during the reign of Emperor Hadrian, is on a spectacular site overlooking the pass which forms part of the Roman road from Ravenglass to Ambleside. The walls surrounded granaries, barracks, and a commandant’s house. The baths, with a sequence of three rooms can be seen outside the main walls. An area of flattened ground is believed to be a parade area.
It housed a cohort of 500 men, the fourth Cohort of Dalmatians, infantry soldiers from Croatia, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Montenegro. Living at 815ft above sea level, they guarded the Roman road between Ambleside and Ravenglass from invasion by the Scots and Brigantes. The fort is 375 feet square, and covers an area of around 2 and three quarter acres. The fort was disbanded in 197AD.

This is not your average kind of image taken in New Zealand by landscape photographers but then again, I'm not your average kind of landscape photographer, ha, ha.
So let me confirm that I do love to shoot a little bit of industrial architecture in the landscape and power stations are a prime candidate especially when situated in the most colourful lake I think that I have ever seen, Lake Pukaki.
The green colour of the water is mind-blowing and utterly spellbinding. It really is THAT green.
So onto the power station. One of the elements of the image that I really like is the wonderful 75 metre bridge that joins the station to the mainland and the fact that the water level is as high as it is.
I saw from the roadside two huge red pipes that lead from the power station and head up and over the hill to the reservoir and I thought that the inclusion of one of them within the frame would really add to the composition of the final capture. Your thoughts?

Tuscany Photography Workshop
21st - 26th Sept 2020

After one of my most enjoyable day's landscape photography that I can remember for some time, I decided to finish yesterday off by paying the gorgeous, elegant Chapel of the Madonna di Vitaleta a visit after dark en-route back to the hotel.
This gorgeous little church stands high up on a hill near Pienza flanked by two rows of Cypress trees with a Maritime Pine standing guard close by. It is perhaps one of the most enchanting and beautiful scenes I have ever seen, simple yet so wonderfully evocative.
Once parked in the free car park, a short eight minute walk leads you to the church where naturally I was alone in the dark. The sound of the crickets was almost deafening yet rhythmic and melodic in their sound. I enjoyed listening to them.
It took some time to set up my equipment because I kept looking around at the stars and the lights in the distance. I felt like I was stood on top of the world looking down. It was a most enjoyable experience. An hour later, the task was done but I say task as though it was simply another location ticked off my Tuscany list but in truth, it felt much more than that. I felt privileged to be standing in front of this 429 year old stone marvel (built 1590). Italy certainly does have a wonderful way of bringing out a range of emotions in me. It must be the coffee, lol.
Anyhow, once I had finished photographing the church properly, I decided to capture me in the shot to complete my time there and this is the edited image. I shall share the proper image once I return home in a couple of weeks as I want to edit it on my desktop and not the laptop I am currently travelling with.
I hope you like the image. Here's a link to some more information about the church for those interested in reading up on it. Here's a bit of trivia for you. The church once housed the Madonna sculpture by artist, Andrea della Robbia.

This rather magical sunrise was captured back in September during my nine days spent touring around the beautiful coastline of Dorset for the first time I may add.
I had been out photographing Durdle Door until 3.30am so when I eventually awoke at 6am having crashed out in the back of the car, I found that the first light of day was already starting to develop. I hastily grabbed me camera equipment, tripod and a cold drink before rubbing my blurry eyes and jogging all the way to Old Harry Rocks some 1.5 miles.
I was absolutely shattered on arrival but the colours were at their peak which gave me just about enough time to catch my breath,m wipe the sweat from my brow and set up the camera.
This is what I manage to capture. Worth all the effort? You decide. I'm happy enough with the results though.
Feel free to SHARE if you wish.

I feel as excited as a child on Christmas morning at the moment as every week I head to another amazingly beautiful part of the world to run another landscape photography workshop and tomorrow I shall be heading up to Glencoe for five days.
Why am I excited? This photo that I took as the sun was rising over the hugely evocative and atmospheric Rannoch Moor lats November should say it for me.
Trying to find new and interesting opportunities to photograph a well visited part of the UK is difficult but when you do manage to capture something that little bit different, I do tend take a little bit more satisfaction from doing so.

I was photographing this wonderful small waterfall on Tuesday morning while my Fog Bow photograph was being shared around the various social media platforms. The phone never stopped ringing, and the sound of what seemed like a million Facebook and Twitter notifications an hour pinged away.
It seemed a weird situation to be in really, knowing that people were enjoying what I had photographed two days before while I was all alone on the moorland of Rannoch trying to photograph this waterfall but I enjoyed the challenge. I love Cauldron Falls and the backdrop is dramatic and typically Scottish in its shape and structure.
Here is an image made up from focus stacking six images to ensure that there was enough focus throughout the whole image. It really was as cold as it looks too.

On reaching near the summit of High Spy yesterday during my mammoth 14 mile hike over the fells of Catbells, High Spy and Dale Head, I came across this walking excavator parked up resting idle. I wondered how on earth it managed to get there but I concluded perhaps it was dropped there by helicopter (Chinook maybe. Any thoughts?)
I thought it was a great opportunity to fire off a couple of images and stitch them together in Photoshop CC. That's Catbells in the distance on the right (1,479ft).

FOUR DAY LAKE DISTRICT AUTUMN WORKSHOP
Tues 31st October - Fri 3rd November 2017 £795

I spent Tuesday this week driving around like the Mad Hatter trying to photograph everything that had colour in view. Hodge Close was my early afternoon location as the sun would be behind me illuminating the gorgeous gold colours of the silver Birch trees.
But even I was not prepared for the outstanding colours that we're seeing this year so I think from memory these are the most vibrant colours I've ever seen in the Lake District. Apparently, the floods last December have something to do with the abundance of colour this autumn. I guess every cloud has a silver lining.
So here's a shot that I took from the east side of the quarry which affords you an elevated position from which to look over the stunning landscape. I hope you love looking at the scene as much as I did standing there with the camera.

It was an absolute joy to return to Kolymvari in Crete last week after visiting it for the first time back in 2010. This quiet, laid back, sleepy village has a lovely little harbour in which you can see fishermen head out pre-dawn in their small boats while I stand by the water's edge with my camera on a tripod waiting for sunrise.
But on this particular day, I arrived at Kolymvari on the first day of landing in Crete. The sun was shining, the heat was making me feel good and the colour of the water was gorgeous. I took my time setting up as I decided to savour the moment. I took a handful of shots (I'm never one to rattle off millions of photos, I'm a considered shooter these days) before tweaking the composition and finally plumping for a square format.
My choice of camera these days is Canon's latest EOS R mirrorless and I love it. Naturally all Canon's allow you to shoot in various aspect ratios including the usual 3:2, but also 4:3, 16:9 and my favourite, 1:1 (square). If I change my mind on the composition once home and the image has been opened in Adobe RAW, I can simply extend the aspect ratio back to 3:2 again. It's a case of having your cake and eating it I guess.
Anyhow, I am just putting together the final touches for my April 2020 Crete workshop and it will be live in a few days time, along with all of my 2020 workshops.

Having driven for nearly five hours from Queenstown, I was hoping for a decent sunset at Lake Matheson, Fox Glacier and on arriving, it looked as though my wishes were going to come true. On settling myself down on the specially built large wooden viewing platform, I set up and waited for the light to illuminate the gorgeous trees across the water. Sadly the summit of Mt Cook is shrouded in cloud but that merely gives the trees more time in the limelight to shine.

I took this image back in mid-September while spending five days touring around the beautiful coastline of East Lothian in Scotland. On this particular morning, I was driving towards the car park in the woodland area to park up and shoot down on the beach when I spotted this scene to my left. I just had to pull over and photograph the slowly rising sun that cast a gentle, golden light on the side of Tantallon Castle.
For those of you who have never heard of this castle, here's the usual Wikipedia blurb.
Tantallon Castle is a semi-ruined mid-14th-century fortress, located 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) east of North Berwick, in East Lothian, Scotland. It sits atop a promontory opposite the Bass Rock, looking out onto the Firth of Forth. The last medieval curtain wall castle to be constructed in Scotland,[1] Tantallon comprises a single wall blocking off the headland, with the other three sides naturally protected by sea cliffs.
I hope you enjoy seeing what I saw.

BRAND NEW DORSET WORKSHOP ANNOUNCED

This scene developed very quickly during a one-day workshop I ran at Portland Bill at the end of January (2017). This huge storm cloud started to envelope the lighthouse but realising that it was passing right to left meant that within a couple of minutes the cloud would 'frame' the lighthouse perfectly.
Advising Monica (my client) to quickly set up and get a shot or two was the right call for the dramatic scene unfolded before our very eyes. Who wants to be out and about under pure blue skies and the odd fluffy white cloud? Not me that's for sure :D
I hope you all like it.

A question that I often ask myself is how do I take an interesting and alternative shot of an iconic viewpoint? That's a very good question and the answer I am always found chasing.
My visit to Swanage yesterday while leading my Dorset workshop had me ask that of my clients. I gave advice that suggested that they look beyond the usual and try to find something that invoked a stronger response from those looking at their work and for me this scene of the old and new piers at Swanage does that for me.
Combining the two piers has me reminded of times gone by and perhaps when British seasides were much more vibrant and industrial. These days, seaside resorts are all about tourism and I guess to my mind have become a shadow of their former self but with the inclusion of the new pier in the background, good times continue for those who enjoy being out over the water.
Either way, Swanage is an excellent place to visit with your camera and I would always recommend it whatever the weather or the time of year.

This dramatic image was captured on my visit to Iceland March 2017 during an absolutely stunning sunset. It seems that the vast majority of images that I see of this plane are taken up close but I really wanted to place the plane within the harsh natural landscape and to show you what most images do not, the majestic snow capped mountains that serve as the beautiful backdrop.
I walked for what seemed like hours to reach this black volcanic sand dune which afforded me the elevated position I was wanting. All I had to do was to endure the fierce wind and try to protect the tripod and camera while the low light slowed the shutter speed to 1/15 sec at ISO800. I was shooting on the 50mp Canon 5Ds which does not handle low light well with increased levels of noise present due to cramming so many mega pixels on a full frame sensor. So I did not want to shoot using a higher ISO than 800 so I was somewhat restricted.
Still I am very happy with how it all turned out. The 4km walk back in the dark during a snow storm that kicked in just as everybody left and the sky turned black was bloody harsh but the images captured were more than worth it.
The story surrounding the plane crash is that on Saturday, November 24, 1973, a Douglas Super DC-3 of the United States Navy is on its way to an unknown location in Iceland, when it was forced to crash land on Sólheimasandur beach near the famous town of Vik.
The official reason for the crash is still unknown. Some say the aircraft experienced severe icing over the black beach, while other sources report the pilot just switched over to the wrong fuel tank making the aircraft run out of fuel. The crew and passengers thankfully all survived the crash.

THREE DAY DORSET WORKSHOP
25th-27th September 2017 £595
www.melvinnicholsonphotography.co.uk/product/dorset-works...
Welcome to my very first properly edited image from my recent travels down to the beautiful county of Dorset. I have been so busy preparing for my upcoming multi-day workshops which kick off in the Lake District next week that I've hardly had any time to view and edit my millions of images I took during my nine days spent in Dorset but a swift look through them tonight has revealed some beauties.
So let's start with this one from one of my favourite locations in Dorset, Portland Bill Lighthouse. I have a love affair with lighthouses and so I naturally gravitate to the coastlines that have them installed. This one was built in 1906, stands at 141ft in height and its light is a whopping 635,000 candela.
I visited this location a couple of times and there's so much to shoot there that I could spend all day there with the camera and then some and it will be one of the locations we will visit on my workshop in Dorset in the spring of 2017 (more details to follow shortly).
I hope you all like it and as usual, please feel free to share.

This image was captured this afternoon despite the weather forecast predicting doom and gloom all day. I was with a 1-2-1 client starting at Coniston at 7am before enjoying a lovely cooked full English breakfast mid-morning followed by a few hours at the wonderful Hodge Close.
The sun started making an appearance around 2pm and we bathed in sunlight for a while before leaving to return home. I love Hodge Close (near Coniston) not least because it is such a versatile place. If it's raining, head down into the water filled quarry itself and take shelter under the rock arches or if like today the sun shines, take advantage by shooting the mountains in the distance from the slate ridge near the car park.
I have always seen these wonderful old abandoned caravans lying down in the undergrowth in the distance and the light illuminated them beautifully today while the storm clouds rolled in above the snow capped mountains above.
Have a great weekend folks. I'm back up in the Lake District tomorrow leading another one-day workshop. I cannot wait.

During my first visit to Venice September 2019, I opted to shoot a timelapse sequence of the Basilica di Santa Maria della Salute and the Grand Canal from the Ponte dell'Accademia Bridge.
It was wonderful watching the light go down on one of the world's most romantic and beautiful cities.

The views of the mountains between Falassarna and Balos from the harbour at Kissamos.
I loved watching the interesting clouds roll over the mountains casting some wonderful shadows down below while allowing some sections of the mountains to be lit. It was a really enjoyable half an hour watching and photographing these clouds.

Last night I hiked to the best overlook in the San Juans, a short but steep off trail tramp that very few people have been to. The solidarity of this location is indescribable, I ran across some hunters on the way up (good thing I had my blaze orange vest on!), but they were quickly forgotten as I climbed higher and higher. I knew I was in for a treat as the clouds started changing color and magical warm light poured onto the Cimmarons.
I kept my load as light as possible, only a Fuji XT-1 with a 18-55 and a Sirui T-025X tripod, all packed into a Mindshift Trail, I could barely tell I was carrying gear! This is a 2 row pano of 25 images, single exposures! That's right, the Fuji has very good dynamic range, I pulled the shadows in Lightroom with no noticeable noise added, this camera is legit.

One of my favourite subjects to photograph in Iceland during a misty day is not the 200ft waterfalls or the huge sea stacks at Vik or even the mighty Vestrahorn mountain at Hofn, it is these wonderful electricity pylons.
I find them a thing of beauty all stood there perfecting the art of social distancing. The recession of the pylons in the distance really interests me and if you are able to find a lovely bit of yellow grass rooted into the black sand, I think you have a fantastic opportunity to capture them at their best.

Taken during a 1-2-1 today with a client of mine in the Lake District on what was a fantastic day with the cameras. Having ensured that Keith got his shot, I quickly captured this shot of the 3,200 year old mysterious stone circle while there was no-one inside of it getting in the way.
I love this place but always find it difficult to shoot as the stones are not the biggest around and with a backdrop as huge and gigantic as it is, they generally look too small however if you shoot on a long lens, you can have them isolated more than usual which for me gives them more of a presence.
Naturally, these are just five stones of many but I prefer to grab a partial shot of the stone circle. If you want to read more about the Castlerigg Stone Circle, click here. www.visitcumbria.com/kes/castlerigg-stone-circle/
I hope you all like the view and big thanks to Keith, my client for a cracking day :D

WOW. I have been absolutely blessed with some amazing misty mornings on my travels since landing in Italy on the 12th Sept 2020 followed by a spell now in Slovenia while I discover its stunning scenery, of which there is plenty.
A Slovenian friend of mine Ana, took me to this church called St Ana (ironicic I know) the other evening with her boyfriend Matic. The church is lit at night and looks stunning but it was the view behind me that I was also interested in as I knew that the sun rose in the distance and over the trees.
So on arriving for my sunrise session on the 14th Oct 2020, the mist inversion was simply incredible and it flooded the valleys below all around me.
I quickly set up the Canon EOS R to capture 550 images at ten seconds each based over an hour and forty minutes which gave me 22 seconds of timelapse footage.
At this time of the year, total mist inversions are common in the Ljubljana region and they are an absolute joy to witness and capture on camera.

Driving the road through Skippers Canyon is quite the experience. The road was built by gold miners between 1883 and 1890, the Skippers Road was considered a major engineering feat in its day. It is unpaved, very narrow and in parts, has incredibly steep 500ft+ drop offs.
I took a tour with www.skipperscanyonjet.co.nz as my vehicle hire company would not permit me to drive it myself plus they do not insure me to do so. The tour was superb with Dave the driver offering up a great interactive experience. Great value at around $155 (£80 approx).
The tour company have a jet boat that you can take too but I opted to leave it out and photograph it instead.

The Mighty 200ft Skogafoss waterfall in Iceland is a hugely impress sight and especially in winter when you can see huge icicles hanging all around it the roar from the huge volume of water that constantly pours over the cliff edge is deafening when stood close by.

Hot on the heels of the well received shot that I posted earlier of The Kelpies at Falkirk, here's another local landmark that's become iconic, the Falkirk Wheel.
I arrived at this place during daylight hours with Gavin Duncan, a local photographer who very kindly offered to show me around the place and well I loved it. Just look at the sheer size of the rotating boat lift (35m, 115ft). And those wonderful vibrant colours that radiate far and wide in every direction, well they just lured me in.
I wandered around a fair bit trying to find a composition that I felt would do the wheel justice for the was so many elements that I felt required
photographing. How to do it in one image was the challenge I set for myself and this is what I came up with and I am extremely happy with it.
What do you think?
Here's a video of the Falkirk Wheel in action if you have never seen or heard of it before. It's a modern day marvel of technology and industrial engineering.

One of the joys of going back through old images on your hard drive in order to help sell a new workshop in the Eastbourne area end of July is that you come across an image that still warms the cockles of your heart or more's the point, warms the cockles of my heart.
I remember this evening well back on Sept 29th 2009. I was with my buddy Dave Owen and we had visited these wonderful old cottages positioned high up overlooking the white chalk cliffs of the Seven Sisters in the distance. A more divine location would be hard to found bar the tourists that pass your door every day but the views are to die for.
So here's an image of a partial section of the cottage all covered in wonderful bushes and the lovely old light blue painted wooden gate that leads you up the path to that gorgeous old wooden, red tiled roofed home.
It is definitely an image that still has me feel good and that's the power and magic of photography and its ability to transport you right back to a time and place that you will remember forever.

While back home for Canadian Thanksgiving back in Nelson B.C we came across this waterfall while going though the bush after docking the boat to Check things out. We tried to find a name but no one knows. Perfect find down the river.
I hope you're all having a wonderful bank holiday weekend. Mine is consisting of creating workshops, writing blogs, watching F1 in Monaco and editing images such as this one.
Sometimes less is more and occasionally I come across a scene that just screams simplicity to me. I was on the beach at St Annes on Thursday with a regular client of mine on a 1-2-1 tuition day when on arrival I asked her to spend a few minutes walking around the old pier remains in order to find a shot.
I knew exactly what I wanted but interestingly enough, Monica returned and said that she would like to capture the pier reflected in the water pools on the beach. I had the same idea (so she must have good taste, lol) and so we both set to work to compare shots and ideas. I wanted to go high key and quite contrasty and definitely in black and white and square format.
I waited until someone walked into shot to create some additional interest but when this father and son wandered towards the pier, I knew that I had my moment in the sun.
I personally love the image. What do you think?

Taken during my 26 day tour of the UK back in July, I have only just got round to editing this image. I have so many more from that mammoth roadtrip that it'll be 2018 before I'm finished.
On this particular day I had the pleasurable company of Neil Pentecost who very kindly spent the day with me and showed me around the various hot spots in this region of Cornwall. This beautiful sunset was the icing on what was a cracking day's shooting in good excellent company. Thanks Neil. I hope to shoot with you again sometime soon.

After pausing railway photography for 12 years, I started again in 2002 just right at the same point where it ended. I started photographing steam again, which was quite easy as I had two daily steam operated narrow gauge lines only 20 km away from the place where I lived. I also attended some special steam rides on regular gauge, but I really missed the atmosphere of scheduled operations.
The photo was taken at Gera depot, during a special steam train ride. In background 50 3648 can be seen while taking coal and water. I think this was the important moment, when I made the mindshift to focus on scheduled operations (diesel and electric) from now on. Nevertheless I still enjoy steam trains and never stopped to photograph them, but they were not longer my photographic focus.
Scanned slide.

Last night I ventured out to Cleveleys, near Blackpool with three good friends of mine (Tony, Chris and Danny) to capture sunset. A cracking one was predicted and for once the Met Office was right. What a fantastic sunset we witnessed.
We decided to shoot the iconic beach art sculpture Mary's Shell which I did manage to fire off a few shots but when the setting sun started to dip behind the horizon, I simply could not resist whipping out my long one (Canon 70-200mm f4 before you wonder, lol) and bolting it onto my 5D MK4.
There was a little wind but I was only shooting at 1/40 sec so a nice and sharp capture was ensured. I love the inclusion of the wind turbines and I paid particular attention in placing the sun centrally between them. However what I could not control or envisage was the bird flying through the shot smack bang centrally over the sun. Sometimes you need a little bit of luck on your side to have an image elevated to a slightly higher level.
I hope you all like it and that it puts a smile on your dial on this lovely Wednesday morning. P.S. Feel FREE TO SHARE if you wish :D

I have been wanting to edit this photo ever since I captured it on my camera way back mid February this year while running a workshop in Iceland.
My clients and I were enjoying the gorgeous scenery of the Kirkjufell mountain and Kirkjufellfoss waterfall when I spotted this scene to my left as I walked over the bridge back to the car. A quick capture on my tripod and the scene was mine. This was the last throws of light before darkness and the sky was turning blue during the blue hour.

Last week i did an exhibition with Paul Paetzel as part of the lovely Nextcomic festival in Linz. we made some new work for it.
www.nextcomic.org/ai1ec_event/brecht-vandenbroucke-paul-p...
Saturday (020319) started wet, grey and very windy, the predicted storm was hitting land earlier than expected. Regardless of this, I headed out without much hope, but as it was my first time out with my camera since November and my first visit to Snowdonia of 2019, I just had to give it a try. I had wandered this area taking some shots, all looking flat and boring without any light. I was making my away across a boulder field which was somewhat of risk, as the rocks were lethal, wet and covered in ankle twisting green growth, when all of a sudden to my right I saw the clouds parting and sunlight was hitting the rocks in front of me. I had climbed up to this spot in the hope of getting this composition, however not expecting the light to play ball. No time for a tripod, this shot had to be grabbed quickly and handheld, luckily I was wearing my new Mindshift rucksack which has a rotation system, whereby you can pull the camera pouch that is part of the waist belt from inside the bottom of the rucksack and within seconds you have access to your camera. I got the shot before the light disappeared, which it did within seconds. Chuffed, I headed back down...
*****I have just two places left on my Northern Lights in Lofoten, Norway Workshop in November 2021*****

Killer Whales & Sea Eagles, Lofoten, Norway
WOW. I am just looking back through my many images and short videos of my Lofoten workshop in November 2019. My six lovely clients and I had the absolute privilege to witness a pod of killer whales and a dozen sea eagles in a fjord in Lofoten, Norway just down the road from where our workshop house is.
I was driving down a side road to a new location that promised some amazing views of nearby mountains across the water when one of my clients noticed some activity of sea eagles above the water. This prompted us to pull the minibus over and set up the cameras only to find two pods of killer whales (Orcas) circling the water in two areas in order to eat the fish in a process called 'carousel feeding'.
“The Orcas have to stop the fish from diving, so they force them to the surface and keep them there in a ball by circling around them.”
www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/article/orcas-feeding...
It was utterly fascinating to spend nearly an hour watching them work together in order to feed while the Sea Eagles constantly swooped down to feed on the dead fish themselves. What an incredible experience it was and one that I shall never forget.
Here's a capture of some gorgeous light and colour in the sky while nature went about its business.

I love nothing more than dappled light gently drifting along a craggy fellside while shadows help to create wonderful depth and beauty. The Langdale Pikes from Blea Tarn is an iconic view for a reason. This is why.
I hope you all love it as much as I do.
