This is a hidden quaint part of Suffolk and if you took the modern signs away I would have not thought its changed for 100 years

Baylham Mill ceased working in the 1970's but all the machinery still sits inside, quietly rusting away!

The former Fulling Mill on the banks of the Wear at Durham is rarely the centre of interest in a picture. This is in part due to it's competitor for composition, Durham Cathedral, which stands proud on its higher vantage point directly above. The Fulling Mill invariably gets second billing. So, in an effort to re-address the situation, here it is as star of the show!

Until recently, the former mill was part of Durham University's Department of Archaeology, but it closed in 2013 and has now reopened up on Palace Green. The mill stands empty and I'm not sure what the future holds.

My husband and I were fortunate to tour Whitehall Mill (early 18th century), an historic mill currently in redevelopment to become a mixed-use retail, office, and housing complex. I'm obsessed with historic preservation and real estate development, so this experience was a treat! To make it even better...the developers and architects gave us the tour!! Yay! I loved every minute of it! Thank you Doors Open Baltimore and Terra Nova Ventures for an inside look at this property and its future plans!

On Sunday we took a walk from Horsey mill down to Bograve mill, the weather wasn't as friendly as i'd liked and the water was a strange brown colour but I was still relatively pleased with this photo.

Arrow Mill, Castleton, Rochdale was was designed by Sydney Stott for R & T Howarth. It was built very quickly. The contract to build was signed in late 1906, the first brick was laid in January 1907, the engine first ran under steam in February 1908 and the first cotton was spun in this large mill fifteen months after the first brick was laid. It was acquired by Courtaulds Ltd in 1934 and sold by them to Arrow Mill Fabrics Ltd in 1979. This was the last cotton mill to operate in the Rochdale area and did not cease production until the late 1990s. It is now listed Grade II and is in multiple occupation.

The BMW estate arrived as the barriers came downand the lady driver waited whilst 4 trains passed by. This was a first (and last) low light night shoot. My camera is fine in well lit stations but in these circumstances it was found wanting.

A memorable day for three reasons. My first railway photograph since March the 20th due to Key Worker commitments and lockdown rules. Secondly a furious fire broke out blocking the main line at Earlestown. And lastly today was the day I found out that ace photographer Bill Wright had pased away back in March this year. Thanks to Nostromo (Mathew) for letting me know. A true gentleman who many of us would have met at Tamworth over the last ten years or so R.I.P Bill.
