That's the beginning of my 30D adaptor project. It is a modified aluminum(!) Canon lens cap. Later on a plastic tube will follow.

This is a skin shed from a Nicaraguan Boa.

The condensor is the first lense the light from the lamp house passes through. The beam of light is focused, then phased (if applicable), to shine through the specimen. After that, the objective magnifies the image, that travels all the way through the arm, to be magnified additionally by the oculars, to finally hit the eye of the beholder.

A botany class uses microscopes. The professor (standing near the middle of the image) was William J. Beal. Printed on the image: "Class in Botany M.A.C. Woodworth."

Microscopes with which to see the miniscule works of art, Prague

Microscope. In gilt bronze, enamel, leather and glass. Decorative and still functional luxury instrument. French, from about 1751. At the Getty Center.

 

The Getty Center is an art museum located about 15 miles (24 km) west of downtown Los Angeles, California. It houses Western European art dating from 1300 to 1900. Items from before 400 AD are housed in a companion museum, the Getty Villa, elsewhere in Los Angeles. I returned to the Getty Center on June 21, 2015, because there was much I had not seen during my visit of the previous day.

El Centro Getty es un museo de arte situado como a 15 millas (24 km) al oeste del centro de Los Ángeles, California. Alberga arte de Europa occidental que data de 1300 al 1900. Artículos de antes del año 400 se encuentran en un museo asociado, la Villa Getty, en otro lugar de Los Ángeles. Fossils....Crinoid stem pieces... this one is a nice hexagon. Seen through the microscope. Whoops, it is a pentagon. I never noticed once, in all these months, that I mis-labeled it! Thank you Jon for pointing it out!

More thick sections of perthite with moderate, pretty interference colours.

Students from Y9 worked on a 'Inside Me' project. They explored imagary from scientific slides through a microscope. Students were then asked to record these using a digital camera. Outcomes were used to generate work further into abstracted images, paintings and drawings.

Microscope, a sculptural group by Tom Otterness, sits outside the Life Science Center at Rutgers University's Newark campus on University Avenue and Warren Street.

The microscope has a really good working distance, so we were able to put it practically everywhere we needed to without risk of touching the lens with the microscope objective.
