Let's start of with the user-friendly features! Not all scientists are equally tall, nor are their eyes equally far apart. That's why the oculars (eye pieces) can be tilted up and down, and can they slide apart. Through both oculars shines a light!
microscope: this is a section of purple pigment on a harlequin rasbora fish (tropical) you'll be glad to know it was dead at the time of analysis...
This is the finished microscope for a physics class lab. We only had a greyscale camera. Using the technique of primary color addition we were able to produce a color photo. Light from the sample was passed through a red filter, thus capturing a greyscale image of only the red "information". This was done again with a blue filter, and finally a green filter. The three photos were brought into photoshop as individual color channels and a color image was produced. Very cool!

An interesting look at everyday things.
I bought a cheap USB powered Microscope and then started exploring. Some of the images were very unexpected so I thought I would post a few.

This microscope was owned and used by my great-grandparents (she was microbiologist and he was a chemist). The tools on the table are for taking core samples of cheese (family business, too).
