First trip to Llandudno. It took me 37 years! I was lucky to go on a day where it was not Windy so the Gondolas were up and running. I did take advantage of using them but this was shot whilst sitting on the side of the Mountain enjoying some Sun.

I love how this shot came out. The Gondolas were just above me so it gave me the opportunity to give the impression that they could be up at any height in the Mountains.

These Gondolas have been going since 1969 and were still used every year during the Spring and Summer months.

Another one of the properties I photographed whilst in Dungeness. This Black, Timber built house stood out from all the rest right along the Coastline. I preferred the use of Black and White for this high contrast photo.

Last Saturday evening I made the journey to Bedruthen Steps with Shaun, something we’d been planning for a few weeks. Everything looked like it was coming together nicely, as we had some lovely clouds overhead with clear space on the horizon, but unfortunately the sunset didn’t fully materialise.

I’m always on the lookout for something interesting to put in-front of a landscape shot and this thistle caught my attention; I used focus-stacking to make sure the thistle itself and the background were all in focus.

Bedruthan Steps, one of the fantastic beaches on Cornwall's north coast. taken on our club photowalk last week.

Another photo from a recent trip to Dungeness. Arriving during heavy rain I wasn't sure what I was going to be able to get a photo of, but thankfully the weather did clear and gave me some very stormy clouds whilst it was clearing.

It's been a few months since returning back from Northumberland but I had completely forgotten to go through all my photo's. This Lighthouse was taken looking through the gates down South Pier in Amble.

Nervous little animals but wouldn’t you be if you were the preferred food of melanistic leopards and wild dogs.

A shot from Tuesday evening on a photowalk with the Liskeard Camera Club. We had spotted the fair in the car park and were heading back to take some longer exposures but by the time we got there it was all packed up, grrr! We had to make do with a few shots of the East Looe River instead.

We have had an odd Autumn this year in England. Initially it looked like it was coming super early as the trees were already changing in August. Now, another 6 weeks on it almost seems to have reversed. Wyming Brook near Sheffield had an awful lot of Green in the trees still with just a few fallen leaves stuck on the rocks down the waterfalls.

A shot I’ve had in my mind for a while, basically every time I come home from Plymouth and pass the Peace Dove! I’d wondered how it would look with a long exposure with the car headlights catching it, up close it’s not quite as shiny as I’d thought but it still looks pretty good.

I purchased the budget OM System 40-150 F4-F5.6 recently and have been really impressed with the lens. I picked it up direct on offer for just £109. So far I've found the lens to be really sharp in good light.

First visit to Garth Pier in Bangor, the day was full of grey sky, so I used the Colour Picker in camera to just show just the Pier Life Buoy in Colour.

Saturday morning was looking like there was potential for a nice sunrise so I decided to head for Polperro; I’d attempted this shot earlier in the week but in my half-asleep state driving there I’d missed the road closure at Looe and going back to take the diversion would have meant missing the sunrise anyway. It’s somewhere I’ve shot before and liked the composition but the sky was not the greatest so it definitely required a return visit and luckily there was some nice high cloud to catch the pre-dawn colours.

We have had a lovely winter here in the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier regions of New York state. Since just before Christmas there has been a consistent, beautiful cover of snow and crisp, cold temperatures. Mix cold with water and you get ice - icy waterfalls. The afternoon sun peeked out at just the right time.

After a few hours exploring underground this escalator bought me back to natural light. This was taken in Battersea Station on the London Underground, one of the newer stations on the Northern Line.

Taken on my first explore around the redeveloped Battersea Power Station. The whole area around the Power station has been converted to Shops, Accommodation and Offices. I heard this plane coming across in the distance and I liked the simplicity in this shot.

As I had to make the trip up to Exeter for work today I thought I’d start early and visit a couple of Tors on the way there, I had initially planned to just stop at Sharpitor but the mist that was rising from Burrator Reservoir was pulling me so I headed over to Leather Tor instead. After a while a beautiful spot of golden light lit up the Tor.

An interior shot from Cattedrale di Pisa

Sometimes when you’re editing a shot, you can see the potential but somehow it doesn’t quite deliver the goods… this was one of those shots where the colours didn’t seem to work in their natural state so I opted for some slightly fanciful colours instead.

I took a visit recently to Battersea Power Station and it was looking very different to what I expected. In my head it was an empty, derelict site. In the last 10-15 years it has had major redevelopments and now has a Multitude of Shops, Living and Office spaces. This photo is of the office spaces at 50 Electric Boulevard, photographed Battersea Park Road.

A shot of the Tamar Bridge today, this time using ICM (Intentional Camera Movement) to blur the image and give it an abstract feel. I tried blurring the shot several different ways but felt that this vertical movement provided a good mix of blur while still having an identifiable object in the form of the road bridge tower. I know these shots can be a bit of a love/hate image, let me know what you think!

More downtime at Laikipia Wilderness River camp. This time it was a coffee break down by the river when I spotted a few dragonflies and butterflies on a nice green bush. This one decided to perch itself on the uppermost tip of a shooting branch.

Not 100% sure what it is, google searches have it as a Red Groundling (Brachythemis lacustris).

A nice male Grévy's zebra on a foothill enjoying some grass.

Grévy's zebra is the largest living wild equid and the most threatened of the species. It is found in parts of Kenya and Ethiopia. Grévy's zebras' physical features can help to identify it from the other zebra species; their overall appearance is slightly closer to that of a mule, compared to the more "equine" (horse) appearance of the plains and mountain zebras. Compared to other zebra species, Grévy's are the tallest; they have mule-like, larger ears, and have the tightest stripes of all zebras. They have distinctively erect manes, and more slender snouts.

The Grévy's zebra live in semi-arid savanna, where they feed on grasses, legumes, and browse, such as acacia; they can survive up to five days without water. They differ from the other zebra species in that they do not live in a harem, and they maintain few long-lasting social bonds. Stallion territoriality and mother–foal relationships form the basis of the social system of the Grévy's zebra. In its native home this zebra is listed by the IUCN as endangered. Its population has declined from 15,000 to 2,000 since the 1970s. In 2016, the population was reported to be "stable"; however, as of 2020, the wild numbers are still estimated at only around 2,250 animals.

On a recent photography day out I decided to explore the London Underground. With no plan as to where I would go I had no idea what option I was going to have to shoot. This image was taken just as the last people from the Train had exited up the Escalators. It was an odd silence shortly before all the next passengers arrived.

Taken with my Olympus E-M10II and DJI 15mm F1.7

One of my favourite smaller waterfalls just North of Dolgellau in North Wales. This shot was a composition of 4 JPEGs stacked using the Olympus E-M1 II's inbuilt High Resolution mode which outputs at 50MP.

A panorama from Rame Head on Sunday night, looking at Skippy Sky I was hoping for a bit more high cloud to give a bit more colour in the sky but unfortunately the sunset was thwarted by low clouds on the horizon again!

A common visitor to the breakfast table after a morning’s game drive. Always looking for a stray crumb or an opportunity to dip its beak in the butter. This one posed for me on the handle of my camera bag. I think I should have paid for its services as I discovered a nice streak of bird poop down the bag when I left for my tent.

A re-issue from me today, purely because I’ve been playing with the trial of Dx0 PhotoLab and trying to decide if the lure of their “Prime” noise reduction function is enough to warrant the outlay. While this software is really designed for high-iso images, I’ve been testing it on standard images as well to see if it will eke out any more detail from existing RAW files.

I'm unsure if the history of this boat but it looks long past it's best. Surprisingly, it still has an old engine, but it's also looks a tad past it's optimum.

Taken whilst walking round a Fishing Lake in North Wales. The sky had just changed from being Grey all day to a Perfect Blue Sky. The water and reflection were perfectly still.

Last night we took another photowalk with the club this time to Foggintor Quarry on Dartmoor, somewhere I’ve seen lots of great photos of but never visited myself.

As the sunsets are now drawing in we didn’t get too much time there, I think this was mostly a recce mission to find out what was there, but we still had some nice light before the clouds that seem to be permanently over west Cornwall snuffed out the sunset again!

Another shot from Sunday evening at Sharrow Point, this time I’d moved away from the beach and down towards the rocks on the headland. A 10-stop filter was used to get a long exposure to smooth out the water, though I think a longer exposure might have been better.

Another shot from Monday night on Stowes Hill, doesn't look it but it was blummin' freezing!

We had a lovely sighting of a Somali Ostrich couple and their charge. Ostriches tend to lay their eggs and leave them with a caretaker couple who hatch the whole brood and look after them as one large family. Here the male is pecking at something on the ground.

My second shot from Tuesday, near to The Cheesewring… still searching for new compositions in the area!

It seems I’ve hardly been out recently so I made the effort to get up for sunrise on Thursday and made a stop at Haytor on my way into the office… sunrise is starting to get a little early for my liking!

Taken in Dungeness in Kent. This little Hamlet is built along the Shingle. I'm assuming this is one of the storage huts for the Fisherman. With little shelter down here from the elements I imagine the winters can be rather rough. Extra precautions had been taken with this hit being well and truly strapped down!
