For the dogwood 52 week 19 challenge had to do messy portrait. So got some holi powered paint and had lots of fun with the family.
The aftermath of another afternoon of finger painting (this time it was the whole table that was painted, not just a piece of paper). It's a good thing the laundry room is downstairs and has a big ol' sink in it!
Ew holly, seriously. Old coca-cola, change, mom's razor, rebecca (book), daniel the dog, old bowl & spoon, sparkly candle, black light candle melted, cinemark ticket, light anywhere matches and ihome.
This new image of the reflection nebula Messier 78 was captured using the Wide Field Imager camera on the MPG/ESO 2.2-metre telescope at the La Silla Observatory, Chile. This colour picture was created from many monochrome exposures taken through blue, yellow/green and red filters, supplemented by exposures through a filter that isolates light from glowing hydrogen gas. The total exposure times were 9, 9, 17.5 and 15.5 minutes per filter, respectively. #L
Edited Hubble Space Telescope image of the galaxy Messier 59. Color/processing variant.
Original caption: This luminous orb is the galaxy NGC 4621, better known as Messier 59. As this latter moniker indicates, the galaxy was listed in the famous catalogue of deep-sky objects compiled by French comet-hunter Charles Messier in 1779. However, German astronomer Johann Gottfried Koehler is credited with discovering the galaxy just days before Messier added it to his collection. Modern observations show that Messier 59 is an elliptical galaxy, one of the three main kinds of galaxies along with spirals and irregulars. Ellipticals tend to be the most evolved of the trio, full of old, red stars and exhibiting little or no new star formation. Messier 59, however, bucks this trend somewhat; the galaxy does show signs of star formation, with some newborn stars residing within a disc near the core. Located in the 2000-strong Virgo Cluster of galaxies within the constellation of Virgo (The Virgin), Messier 59 lies approximately 50 million light-years away from us. This image was taken by the NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope’s Advanced Camera for Surveys.

While fellow homeschooling mom, Kris, was here with her kids, for their bi-weekly "jam session," I made use of the time and good company to make a batch of kale chips for Darren and Joe to take with them to Joe's Cleveland tournament this weekend. "Massaging" the kale is a bit of a messy endeavor, but the final product was rated "yumtastic!"
The marinade for these was sesame seeds, a little olive oil, coconut water, dates, red bell peppers, sundried tomato, curry powder, fresh garlic, shallot, apple cider vinegar and sea salt... blended together and "massaged" into the kale... then dehydrated for about 24 hours at 105 degrees.
This globular cluster is pretty special. It’s the forth globular cluster for apparent dimension and the second from my position after M4. It is located in the constellation of Sagittarius. Its altitude from horizon is 27°. Unfortunatly i didn’t have time to integrate it and stars are a little elongated, next year i’ll take my revenge 😈. ——————— Equipment:

90/365. I got the idea for this shot while feeding my son tonight and I spotted another word on his highchair tray. Didn't turn out as I invisioned but it is what it is.

Day 64 (3/6/14)- Life is Messy :) We can choose how we decide to handle the messes that life throws our way. Today I enjoyed being Messy and getting to finger paint for this shot. I also used some of the lighting techniques I learned from class so it was good practice.
"Nothing is perfect. Life is Messy. Relationships are complex. Outcomes are uncertain. People are irrational. " How true this is lol. ODC Messy.
Today I am thankful for fun shots, new lighting inspiration, and a quiet night in.
