Gunung Merapi (literally Fire Mountain in Indonesian/Javanese), is an active stratovolcano located on the border between Central Java and Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It is the most active volcano in Indonesia and has erupted regularly since 1548. In late October and early November 2010, eruptions at Indonesia’s Mount Merapi produced ash plumes, lahars, and pyroclastic flows.
Mount Merapi and mount Merbabu are 2 mountains next to another. Mount Merapi lie at the south of mount Merbabu. Both of the mountains lies in Central Java and is 27 km distance from Jogyakarta.
Mount Merapi is 2911 and mount Merbabu 3142 metres high. The two mountains have different status. Mount Merapi is an active volcano and mount Merbabu is not active anymore.

Merapi Mountain (Gunung Merapi) is the most active volcano on Sumatra island (50 eruptions since 18th century). Its elevation is 2,891 m. It is located near the centre of Minangkabau culture – Bukittinggi, West Sumatera, Indonesia.

Thousands of displaced are arriving at Maguwoharjo stadium in central Yogyakarta by motorbike, cars and trucks.

The Maguwoharjo stadium is now being used a shelter for thousands of displaced. Some 4 - 5,000 have already arrived. Aid agencies expect up to 10,000 to arrive her in the coming hours seeking shelter, food, water and medical attention.

BAGI-BAGI MASKER - Sylvia (42) dari Poncowinatan Yogyakarta dan teman-teman dibantu warga perbatasan kabupaten Magelang dan Sleman membagi-bagikan masker kepada pelintas jalan (4/11). Udara dan jalan telah dipenuhi debu yang berasal dari semburan gunung Merapi ini mengganggu kesehatan dan sangat mempengaruhi jarak pandang pengendara kendaraan.
