The menu for Balzar - part 2.

Most of us popped into Seville Tapas for lunch after hiking. Though you wouldn't guess from this picture, it gets very crowded by the front door since that is where the menu is displayed. The menu is also right next to the order desk, tableware, water, etc. etc. etc. Not the best setup. Some of the selections were pretty good. Others not so much. Overall a "Meh+" rating.

A birthday party for kim, that was a month early.

Fish Penny Lane Chips

Yayoi, Kagurazaka, Tokyo, Japan

Note that jook is a rice porridge, also known as congee. It's the simplest dish to make, especially with a thermal pot (that's how i cooked the jook and miso broth).

 

1 cup white rice

8 cups water

1 slice ginger

salt and pepper to taste

1 Tbsp fish sauce (red boat)

 

Directions

1) Rinse rice

2) Combine all ingredients in the pot

3) Bring to a boil, then simmer.

a) If using a thermal pot simmer for a minute then put the pot into cooker pot for 30 minutes

b) if using a pot on the stove, simmer for 20 minutes
