''STERLING MEMORIES''

A treasure trove from long ago

Line up inside a chest

With shining bowls of silverplate

The king expects no less

Not from a line of royalty

Nor in a palace fine

These grace our table everyday

With mother dear in mind

And when we bow our heads to pray

A blessing on each guest

We thank the Lord for memories

Of mother now at rest

Six lovely spoons left to my mother by a dear adopted Auntie... A symbol of a special relationship between a little girl and a lovely women that lived up the hill.

Part of my places project for uni. These images show a 'special' place. It is the back garden at my Grandmas old house, when I was younger I spent lots of time playing in this garden and my grandad used to spend his time perfecting all his plants and doing jobs here and there. He used to grow strawberries, tomatoes and grapes in his greenhouses and he planted an apple tree shortly before he died. My grandma moved into a flat soon after my grandads death as the house was too big for her. since she moved out, the house has been bought by a builder and he is in the process of gutting the house and reselling it, I don't think he has been in the gardens once and they have been completely neglected. The greenhouses were knocked over and the shed is about to fall down, almost as if all the work my grandad did was for nothing.

Today's challenge is 'my favourite tool.' This is my favourite memory stick, because it has the long cord to wear around my neck. So I don't leave it in a computer somewhere and lose it. It is so old that it cost me $85. Seems bizarre now.

Years ago I had a china cabinet full of objects from my life - I had five boxes of memories. I revisited these boxes this week.

I was asked to paint this favorite photo as a gift to their mother :)

I was heading out on a project when I noticed this side street on the map. Decided to take a photo for physical proof that I literally and physically went for a walk down Memory Lane.

Memory... I need more... in the computer, and in my head!

We didn't have a specific destination in mind, so we took a trail at random. I was vaguely searching to see if I could find a particular destination I loved 20 years ago, but I wasn't even sure which trail that involved. I ultimately think I was on the right path, though. What you'd do is go out this way for a while (and that's as specific a distance as I have in my brain) until you found a long, somewhat open slope on the trail's south side (to the right). You'd veer off the trail, then, duck through the brush and find yourself all of the sudden hanging over a 100-foot cliff next to a sandstone platform with a large rock overhang. I don't remember now how I first found this spot, just that it was a random, unplanned discovery. I lost a pair of glasses there once in about 1992, when I slipped at the cliff's edge. I landed on my rear and was fine, but a little sapling caught under the nose of my glasses and flung them off my head and into the abyss.

I'm pretty sure this is the right trail, and I think I know roughly the area where I needed to go down the hill, but I couldn't find the exact spot. It all looks just a little different than it did in memory.

Une page réalisée avec Patricia à la Bricole en Folie à Meythet.

Cette page représente une partie de ma vie: Le travail du métal et de la patine.

Les embellissements ont été découpés dans de la feuille laiton puis repoussés et patinés.

I'm a fast painter but I can't paint as quickly as I can recall favorite icons of the 50s. My family rarely ate at Bob's Big Boy but I was all a flutter just seeing him in our travels.
