Today, in between rain showers, I was able to photograph one of my favorite places. Yes this old beaten down dock. To most, it is no more than that, but to me there is nothing that triggers more memories.

It is this spot that I learned to fish as a child with dad and since have caught literally hundreds of fish from this spot. It was where friends and I would dare each other to jump into the murky waters below. And it was simply a place to get away from it all.

To this day, I try to come here every chance I can and take a second to be thankful for all the simple things in life that I should never take for granted.

Thanks,

Aaron

As the winter makes way to Spring and warmer sunny days. Here’s a collection of photographs photographed during Summer 2022 - Seen at Wells is Sanders Coaches BV22HBO whilst having arrived off a Coasthopper CH1 service from Cromer

Like golden autumn leaves around my feet

I touched them and they burst apart with sweet memories,

Sweet memories

Of holding hands and red bouquets

And twilight trimmed in purple haze

And laughing eyes and simple ways

And quiet nights and gentle days with you

Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind

Memories, sweetened thru the ages just like wine,

Memories, memories, sweet memories

Week 30

With all the talk about Evelyn standing (with some support) since week 26, we thought it's about time to actually show her in the act. So here's a photo of Evelyn armed with a mischievous smile as she is caught red-handed trying to destroy her mommy's magazine rack. :) There were times that once standing up right, Evelyn would let go of her hands and stand freely for up to a second. Of course those moments were too fleeting for me to capture with a camera, but it will come sooner or later.

Evelyn has gotten over whatever gave her that temperature last week and is almost back to her own self now, She still has a little runny nose, but we think it's just residual. Feeling better, Evelyn is also eating better. She's enjoying a healthy mix of proteins (beef, chicken, pork), grains, fruits, vegetables, and even some yogurt. With her tummy full of food most of the time, Evelyn is also taking less of her mommy's milk; but except for when she's cuddling up with her mommy late at nights. At that time nothing beats suckling on mommy's breasts. Haven't gotten the double chin yet, but she's doing so well that we think the doctor is going to be happier with her weight at the end of the month.

Another thing I want to talk about is a baby's memory. I don't know when it starts to develop for babies, but Evelyn is showing that she is beginning to retain memory. Of course the biggest example is how she remembers that it's a lot more fun with mommy than daddy (the Deepest Bond thing again). She's also showing that she's recognized strangers and is beginning to be afraid of strangers. She would remember rooms that are more fun (usually rooms with more toys for her to explore). She also remembers undesirable situations like being locked up in her crib. When Evelyn was heading into a dangerous situation, we used to just picked her up and put her in a different place with other toys; but if we do that now, she would remember exactly what she was doing; Evelyn would just turn around and quickly crawl right back to where she was heading. It's good to have memory, but for a young curious baby like Evelyn, it also spells more troubles.

I returned from a week in Taiwan late last night. These ladies in traditional dress were sightseeing in Tainan, the island's capital under the Qing dynasty.

Good memories for a dull November day.

This photo I made almost a year ago, on holiday. It's Sammy, who isn't with us anymore. Although we still miss him everyday, we have tons of good memories left.

I had forgotten I took this photo more than eighteen months ago. When I found it last night, I thought it would look great cut away from the flagstone pathway I shot it on...

Speaking of forgetting, that is not why I called this one Memory! When I combine the title and the photo, it evokes several ideas for me. I hope you will be engaged too!

This month marks 1 year from my 1 year Sabbatical. Went through my photos and came across this one that made me remember some fond memories with my 10 year old son. Together we did the "great Trek" for 2,5 months alone in South Africa.

Week 6/52 Shoes 52 Weeks of Pix

This week's theme is "Shoes". I immediately thought of the first pairs of shoes belonging to both my boys that we've kept as mementoes.

The red ones belong to my 15yo and the navy boots to my 13yo. Both were late independent walkers, but my 15yo spent 4 or 5 months using a block trolley to walk with before he started walking by himself. Conventional wisdom then was that you shouldn't put your babies in shoes until they had been walking for a few weeks, but it was summer and he really liked walking with his trolley. It was quite common for him to walk to our local shopping centre with me which was probably 6 or 8 blocks away. So we bought him these little soft canvas shoes as a compromise.

My 13yo was just a late walker full stop, so he was quite a bit older when he got his first pair of shoes, hence they are much bigger and sturdier.
