I took a stroll down Memory Lane
To all our yesterdays again,
In and out of streets I paced
Until i came upon this place
I sat and thought for many hours
Thinking about the days gone by
Then i stood, took one more glance
As the sunset itself to bed
I smiled and thought
Memories are made of these.
..."i'm cutting branches from the trees
shaped by years of memories
to exorcise their ghosts from inside of me
the sound of waves in a pool of water
i'm drowning in my nostalgia"...

Old picture of Li and Kai never uploaded cause it was too similar to another one I posted. This was before Kai got his chest and neck tattooed and Li her calavera makeup.

Check out my new Facebook page for a brief description of this photo. I'm going to start posting on there the thoughts behind some of my photos. I have already done one of them yesterday for the first time, so be sure to look at that also. Feel free to like the page if you wish. Thanks! Facebook.com/JonathenAdkinsPhotography
I couldn't help but notice the sheer pleasure this wonderful lady was having by simply messing about in the sea with her grand (possibly great) children :-)
Remembering something from your past is often times a lot like those hazy dream sequences in films, where everything goes a bit blurry and you tend to only focus on one moment, one breath. And that one thing you focus on is so clear, so vivid that you think if only you were to close your eyes for just a second, you'll be back in that memory.
Just one second and you can be back in that place and time, the details as vivid and clear as they were the day it happened.
I hope to hold onto that memory, forever.
Istanbul, Turkey.
I saw this guy in the historical tram in Istanbul.
Deep in thought he sat there, for me he looks nostalgic, even a little bit sad. Maybe he remembers things long gone.

Trying another filter here. This one is cool and is intended to evoke times gone by. I also have foreground and background elements to evoke a sense of time.

We are home again after a glorious holiday in South Wales and London. The weather in Wales was amazing, sunny and warm every day, and London was cooler but not altogether unpleasant. There is so much to see and do in London that the weather is not an important factor. South Wales impressed us so much, however. The above is a wee sketch in preparation for a bigger painting. It is really a composite of buildings from our day in beautiful Laugharne, the home of Dylan Thomas.
I have a lot of catching up to do, and look forward to seeing all of your new postings.

Taken from Queen Margaret Bridge just up from the old BBC building, this is the humpback footbridge over the Kelvin that links the Kelvin Walkway and the Botanic Gardens.
The scene was pretty much monochrome already so converting to black and white seemed to make sense. A bit more minimalist than I'm used to, but I thought it looked quite atmospheric.
It was a December morning when thick mist enveloped Glasgow's west end. The visibility was quite a bit worse than this image would suggest, but I find there's something about taking a picture from within mist or fog that tends to add clarity and definition the eye can't quite resolve. Or perhaps it's a failure of technique, I don't know.
The title's a bit of an indulgence, I know, but there's something about the receding clarity of the view upriver that brings to mind that word. The foreground trees and branches are recent events, fresh in the mind, and the faint hint of distant foliage beyond the bridge is a faded old memory you know is there, but can't quite fully recall.
