Buttermere on a damp morning. The lone tree watches over the lake, waiting for the clouds to break on a special view. For me this is a place full of memories.

Another dip into the older files given a dearth of outings recently. Hardly an original composition but I thought it deserved a run out.
Semaphores still ruled the roost when this shot was taken at Barnetby, and would do so for another couple of years. Probably less appreciated at the time was how swiftly coal traffic, once the mainstay freight of the rail network, was going to diminish to an almost complete halt.
In this shot Freightliner Shed 66509 takes the loop line with the 7.00am Ferrybridge Power Station - Immingham Docks empty coal hoppers (4R35). Here it would wait time for around 40 minutes while passenger trains passed and took right of way and possibly to meet operational requirements at Immingham Docks.
Wrawby Junction Signal Box is just visible over the rear of the train.

My late grandmother bought this little dachshund for me even before I was born. This little cutie accompanied my early childhood and has been staying with me until today

Pressed between the pages of my mind. Sweetened thru the ages just like wine.
Autumn on the Poudre River in beautiful Colorado.
The memory is a funny thing. Memories we hold dear now & swear to remember forever can be gone in an instant. "Important" moments come and go. They can be reshaped or replaced by new memories.
My dad was a singer by trade and eventually by hobby as he got older. My earliest memories are dancing behind stages or up against the stage while he sang. We'd listen to albums because he was never one to stay on top of technology. He's getting older and is losing a lot of his memories as time goes on. I'm happy to keep carrying them along
Without memory, there would be no civilization, no society, no future. You never know when you're making a memory. Nothing prevents happiness like the memory of happiness. There is no pain so great as the memory of joy in present grief. ~ Elie Wiesel
Taken in May this year. This week’s snow and storms in Aberdeenshire have cut short our glorious autumn - and sent me reaching for the travel guides!

This photo was taken from Saint Lawrence river in Canada. Found beautiful leaves still in beautiful colours in the river. Still missing that image.
Jaswant Thada, built in 1899 by Maharaja Sardar Singh in memory of his father, Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, is a marble cenotaph in Jodhpur known for its intricate carvings and peaceful gardens. Mehrangarh Fort, founded by Rao Jodha in 1459, stands 400 feet above Jodhpur, showcasing formidable architecture and Rajput grandeur. The fort’s palaces, expansive courtyards, and museum exhibit the region’s rich history and royal artifacts. Together, they epitomize Jodhpur’s historical and architectural splendor.

During the pandemic, I enlisted a number of my photography friends in a project. Every 2-3 weeks, we would present ourselves a new photography challenge. This we would complete on our own, of course, but would later share our efforts and discuss any learnings we had achieved from them.
Time passes. The pandemic years are blurry for me now. But our communal photography challenge work remains a memory bright spot.
This composition was created in response to one of these photography challenges: "Create an interesting image that emphasizes light and shadow."
I have created a Flickr Album entitled "At Home Creatives" where a selection of similarly-themed photographs will be found. I invite you to visit and I hope you enjoy.
