This has a 3x optical zoom, where the lens moves a very small amount, and is least extended in the middle of the range. The styling is almost the same as later models like the D-380

Castello Orsini/Odescalchi - Bracciano (Roma)
(ottenuta unendo due scatti da 8 Megapixel)
Bracciano è un comune di 17.474 abitanti della provincia di Roma, a circa 40 km a Nord della Capitale in posizione dominante sull'omonimo lago, detto anche Lago Sabatino.
Sulle origini di Bracciano non si hanno notizie certe. Molto probabilmente si trattava di un borgo, sorto lungo il tracciato di un ramo secondario dell'antica via Clodia, intorno ad una delle tante rocche e torri che i nobili del X secolo costruivano per difendersi dalle invasioni dei saraceni. Lo stesso nome "Castrum Brachiani" che risulta nei rari e frammentari documenti del periodo, denota l'origine militare del luogo. Verso la fine dell'XI secolo il territorio di Bracciano divenne proprietà della famiglia dei di Vico, che trasformò la torre in una rocca e realizzò nuove fortificazioni. Il territorio fu in seguito venduto dai Vico all'ospedale di Santo Spirito in Sassia divenendo poi, nel 1375, proprietà della Chiesa. Nel 1419 papa Martino V cedette il feudo ad un ramo della famiglia Orsini, quello di Tagliacozzo. Da allora il modesto borgo di pescatori ed agricoltori legò i suoi destini ad una delle famiglie più potenti, trasformandosi in una fiorente cittadina; lo stesso castello, una delle più mirabili opere di architettura militare dell'epoca, è diventato il più caratteristico simbolo di Bracciano. Sull'omonimo lago si affacciano altri due paesi (Anguillara e Trevignano). La legenda narra che sotto al lago di origine vulcanica, c'è una parte della città sommersa dall'acqua e la parte rimasta fuori dal lago sarebbe denominata Bracciano in seguito alla forma presa.
Orsini/Odescalchi Castle - Bracciano (Rome - Italy)
Bracciano is a town of 17,474 inhabitants in the province of Rome, about 40 km north of the capital in a dominant position on the homonymous lake, Lake also said Sabatino.
The origins of Bracciano not have some news. Most likely it was a village, built along the route of a branch of the secondary via Clodia, around one of the many castles and towers that the nobles of the tenth century built to defend itself from the Saracen invasions. The very name "Castrum Brachiani" resulting in the rare and fragmentary documents of the period, denotes the military origin of the place. Towards the end of the century the territory of Bracciano became owned by the family of Vico, who transformed the tower into a fortress and built new fortifications. The land was later sold by Vico at the Holy Spirit in becoming Sassia then, in 1375, owned by the Church. In 1419 Pope Martin V gave the feud to a branch of the Orsini family, that of Tagliacozzo. Since then the small village of fishermen and farmers attached his destiny to one of the most powerful families, becoming a thriving town, the same castle, one of the most marvelous works of architecture of the military, has become the most distinctive symbol of Bracciano . On the homonymous lake bordering two other countries (Anguillara and Trevignano). The legend tells that under the lake of volcanic origin, there is a part of the city submerged by water and the lake remained outside Bracciano would be named later to take shape.
The first consumer-oriented 5-megapixel camera to hit the market, Minolta's DiMAGE 7 leapfrogged the competition by coming out at a time when other camera manufacturers were just introducing their 4-megapixel models. The DiMAGE 7 offers an ultrahigh resolution 5.24-megapixel CCD sensor that delivers excellent images for prints as large as 13 by 19 inches. A high-performance, all-glass, 7x zoom lens (equivalent to 28-200mm on a 35mm camera), with a 2x digital zoom, ensures maximum flexibility when composing your shots. Add to this a host of creative controls stacked into a unit with the size and feel of an SLR, and you have a digital camera with the type of functionality typically found only in professional models.
Three controls provide access to the camera's primary adjustable features. Digital subject-program selection allows you to set aperture and shutter speed for superior results in five popular formats: portrait, sports action, sunsets, night portraits, or text. A function dial allows adjustment between four modes of pixel resolution, five modes of data compression, four modes of exposure control, five modes of drive options, seven modes of white balance, and five levels of ISO. The digital-effects controller allows image manipulation by compensating for exposure, contrast, and color saturation before the image is saved. As insurance, Minolta provides a fourth control that instantly restores the camera's automatic settings. Changing most settings is a two-handed operation: one hand selects the feature you're adjusting, while spinning a second dial actually changes the setting. The system is reasonably intuitive, but don't plan to make any adjustments with one hand.
To preview and review images, the DiMAGE 7 features a digital viewfinder that pivots for comfortable close-ups or tripod shooting. An eye-sensing switch (triggered when you put your eye up to the camera) automatically turns off the TFT LCD viewscreen to conserve battery power.
In manual-focus mode, the camera also has an electronic magnification feature. At the push of a button, the center of the image is blown up to 4x original size in the viewfinder so you can check the fine details and ensure the image is in focus before snapping the shutter. In autofocus mode, a flex-focusing option allows the focal point to be moved to any part of the image for off-center shooting.
The DiMAGE 7 is so packed with features that it would be impossible to list them all, but here are some highlights:
# A supermacro mode allows images to be captured from as close as 5.1 inches.
# Four modes of data imprinting with up to 16 characters help you keep track of your work.
# Movie provides up to 60 seconds of lower-resolution moving images.
# The built-in flash has two selectable metering options and three flash modes. An accessory shoe for optional flash units adds even more varied shooting scenarios.
# A quick-view or instant-playback button that allows you to view the image you just captured and decide whether or not you want to save it to your CompactFlash card without switching out of the shooting mode.
Despite its ultrahigh resolution and extensive set of features, the DiMAGE 7 has a few flaws. To compose shots traditionally, it uses an electronic viewfinder (EVF), which offers far less detail than a traditional optical viewfinder. The 16 MB CompactFlash card provided with the camera holds only 12 images at the default resolution (or a single uncompressed image). Like many manufacturers, Minolta supplies the camera with a set of inadequate AA alkaline batteries (use of rechargeable Ni-MH batteries is recommended, even by Minolta). Though the image sensor is at the cutting edge of technology, the rest of the circuitry can't quite keep up; saving an uncompressed image to the memory card requires a 40-second wait. In addition, we found the multitude of control buttons that must be manipulated simultaneously to be somewhat awkward and initially intimidating. Finally, zooming the lens is a manual-only operation requiring a twist of the barrel--unlike many cameras, the Minolta lacks a pushbutton zoom.
These minor gripes aside, the manual zoom is actually faster than an electronic zoom and easy to get used to; larger capacity CompactFlash cards are readily available; and the control systems are easy enough to learn even for the novice. Moreover, since the EVF is a tiny monitor, you can view camera settings while composing your shot--something you can't do with a traditional optical viewfinder. Though some controls may be awkward for beginners, the camera operates in fully automatic mode by default, allowing users the opportunity to manually adjust settings as they become comfortable with the controls.
The camera comes equipped with a lens cap, lens shade, neck strap, video cable, USB cable, accessory-shoe cap, 16 MB CompactFlash card, four AA alkaline batteries, and a CD-ROM for DiMAGE image processing software. -- Brett M. Nunn and Walt Opie

So far I have mixed feelings about the rest of the phone but the 5 megapixel Carl Zeiss optic camera is impressive. If you go to All Sizes then enlarge further with Cmd + you can read the writing on the shop. Not many others can do this, For full specs see maemo.nokia.com/n900/specifications/

This was made from about 40 overlapping images taken on a Nikon 1 V2 14.2 megapixel camera. While taking the photo sequence, several deer walked about 25 feet near me and I took photos of them and then returned to shooting the panorama. However, I got out of sequence and ended up duplicating quite a few shots - hence, about 40 shots when probably 20 would have sufficed!
You need to download the image if you want to zoom in. Flickr's zoom feature does not show the 200 MP detail.
This image was processed in Affinity Photo and produced *far better* results than what I got from ON1 RAW 2018. I recommend Affinity Photo for stitching these panoramas.
Part of ON1's problem (but not the only one) is that it supports camera RAW formats in "Tier 1" and "Tier 2". The Nikon 1 V2 is in their "Tier 2" support, which basically means its not supported very well.
The actual arbor planted in Gernika, the symbol of the town and of this land, telling a story far behind the life of a single man.

A re-visit to my early digital past to show how great a small resolution camera (in modern day terms) can still cut the mustard in terms of picture quality.
This was shot with a Panasonic DMS-LC5, a 4 megapixel unit with an optical finder, and a Leica Summicron (f2 aperture) lens. The camera dates from 2002, and was also available in a slightly different skin as a Leica Digilux 1. The biggest drawbacks were that it offered no RAW image option, only JPEGs and TIFFs, and if you were after the best quality, the write speed on TIFFs was slow. And there have been no firmware upgrades for it. Ever.
The grain has been added to give a film feel - the original image is of very high quality given its resolution limits.
I look back and wonder why we are racing to huge pixel densities and mediocre image quality?

Preparing for some gallery shows this fall to celebrate 100,000,000 views! Printing a few dozen photographs in ~ 30"x40" formats and mounting/framing. Here are some close-to-final edits. HDR photography 7 exposures shot at 1EV and combined in photomatix: 36 megapixel Nikon D800E with the awesome Nikon 14-24mm f/2.8G ED AF-S Nikkor Wide Angle Zoom Lens. 45SURF Hero's Journey Mythology Photography!

These were shot with Nikon's best D800 with the 14-24mm wide-angle Nikkor lens. 7 exposures were taken at 1 EV intervals, and combined in photomatix to bring out the shadows and highlights.
Rather large HDR (high dynamic range) photo--you can see great detail both near and far! View the detail at full size!
