After the American evactuation in 1813 the British found Fort George in Ruins, rebuilding it partly they also began construction on a new fort with a better line on Fort Niagara. Fort Missisauga was built mostly as an earthworks fortification with a central brick blockhouse. Today the blockhouse and earthworks are located on a public golf course but open to the public.
You can see that Fort Mississauga commanded a better view of the Niagara River and a better line of fire against Fort Niagara.
