Although first released in 1954, Frank Sinatra's 1964 version of the song "Fly Me to the Moon" is the best-known rendition of the famous composition (Note: there were well over 100 versions recorded before Sinatra's). NASA astronauts played the track from a cassette tape recording during the Apollo 10 and Apollo 11 space missions due to how closely linked to the Moon missions the song was in its day.

Growing up during the "space race" of the 1960s and early 70s, I expected that being able to fly to the Moon would be an everyday opportunity by the time I was an adult. As it turned out, I was more than a little off-target, and since I'll reach the 60 yr-old mark in mid-2024, I've put a Moon flight onto my life's "maybe one-day" list.

Captured in June of 2022 (clouds obscured the June full Moon of 2023), I shot this photo with my Canon EOS 7D camera and Sigma 50-500mm f/5.6 lens. The lens was zoomed to 500 mm at an aperture of f/7.1, while the camera's shutter speed was 1/320 second @ ISO 1600.

In this portion of my bride's garden, is one lone daffodil blooming beautifully all by itself. Brave little spring flower to be all alone in this very windy spring weather!

Maybe more are going to join it, but right now it has the whole show!

So, for our Halloween give-out goodies, we always get stuff we don't like so we won't eat it ;-)

But this year was a smaller crowd so we have lots of Twizzlers left over.

Can you stuff a turkey with these ????

Hey Sue - this is about as creative as I can get .. certainly not in your league but not too bad for a guy :-)))) Maybe Daryll would like some of the leftovers?

One never knows what lurks in the magical bokeh bowel. Some say from the alchemist's fires a new Explore shall be born. Do you see the signs? Look closely. I'm not sure that viewing in large size will help, but give it a try. They say once the newborn sees itself, it's time has come.

I think this is a firethorn bush. Nice little fruits/berries. They must not be good enough to eat, as there's no evidence of birds eating these.

Thanks for looking! Isn't God a great artist?

In Lisbon, Portugal.

In 1863 members of a Morrisite religious sect took refuge about here and started a town called Morristown. General Patrick Conner established a fort close by for their protection. In 1871 Brigham Young purchased land nearby and established what is now Soda Springs. Gradually, upper Soda Springs grew, and lower Soda Springs (Morristown) disappeared. Fort Conner disappeared without a trace. In 1925 a dam was built and Alexander Reservoir inundated all or most of Morristown. I wonder if this old barn is all that is left of the old ghost town, or if it was built later.

maybe it was always there, only we too busy to see it

Every time I climb the mountains of Arran, I see the peak of Cir Mhor, yet I have never stood on the top. Having now climbed all the surrounding peaks (A'Chir Ridge excluded), it now sits at the top of my wanted list. Just have to wait for lockdown to be lifted and we are good to go....
