Helios 44-2 nearly open / fast bei Offenblende
An incredibly beautiful woodpecker that is found in the Himalayan forests and maybe a few other pockets in the country. It has a rich yellow and green mixed color which I found to be spectacular. The bird is also quite large compared to many other woodpeckers I have seen. The behaviours are similar to the others, but then these birds do come to the ground. We have sighted them foraging on the lower canopies and sometimes middle canopy unlike a few which are exclusive to the higher canopy.
There is another Lesser Yellownape as well which I was fortunate enough to sight and shoot. Both are amazingly beautiful! The differences are clear, but both share the same color and feather patterns except for a patch of red for the Lesser Yellownape on the crown.

Now, I am not a blogger for this very talented lady but let's face it there are very few that can pull off the gowns she creates. Some things have changed in Second Life and we do not wear these types of apparel much anymore. I hope this is a revival of all that is fun and glamorous in our Second Life. Heaven knows we all need a touch of sparkle in our lives right now.
Well maybe it's just this mishmash of images that makes no sense but I like it and it's made up of a few shots I took this morning. I started with a visit from my deer family, progressed through some dew covered spiders and webs in the sunlight and ended up with a 4 inch long Imperial Moth caterpillar. Interesting morning. I've been working on my vacation shots to the exclusion of a good slide so I thought I'd craft up something from this morning with the caterpillar and the other images composited together.
If you have forgotten or this is your first time viewing my photostream: Things That Make No Sense are just that, assorted bits of amusement for nothing more than visual curiosity and my idea of what I call art or abstract art. Now a series of sorts, the series is interrupted with photographs that do make sense, or at least make sense to me. You can like them or not but they make me smile.

Maybe the third or fourth most common bird here... unlike the other commons, this one is entertaining and I think its reputation as an intelligent bird is well earned also. It's a great photo subject and will hop up into a tree for you for two or three Jordanian Dinars; very cooperative...
On Friday, there were eight or these sort of guarding this puddle, say 90 meters from a leaking irrigation pipeline and they seemed to be protective of the area holding two Bluethroats, two Robins, three Prinia and a pair of Chiffchaffs away... fun watching... could have been two or three Dead Sea Sparrows here also but I only saw enough of them to say they were sparrows... I was also hoping for some Linnets but they never showed up...

In between the comings and goings of ducks on the pond, if I can hear gobbling in the area, I will use my hen call to see if I can entice a tom to come to the pond. This from the confines of my floating blind on the pond. I managed to call this guy in twice. The first time (this photo) when he came into view and did not see a hen where there was supposed to be one, he turned and walked off. After a bit, I used a gobble call along with the hen call and that brought him back the second time. He was not going to let another tom in on any possible hen action.
