My model Valea and I had been talking for quite a while now planning this shoot for our portfolios. Our plans had been crushed several times through bad weather or disease. Finally, we made it happen and used this time of Covid-19, where German residents are allowed to still go outside in groups of 2 people to shoot her new sports outfit by Oceans Apart & Adidas out in this wonderful alley in Stuttgart. Actually, it is a bike road, hence it was quite challenging to get clean shots and to set-up a lighting here, while many people were crossing. With a bit of help of Photoshop, I was able to clean up and polish the scene.

The building was attached to the hospital church in 2012–2014.
The hospital courtyard was built on the site of a former Dominican monastery from the late 15th century, which was used as a hospital from 1536 to 1895 after secularization and then served as a police building and prison. After the destruction in World War II, Wolf Irion (1909–1981) built the old hospital courtyard on the property in 1960, which had to be replaced by a new building in 2014.

The Z-UP building is a z-shaped building (when seen from the air), which is consequently split between an office complex in one part and a residential complex in the other part, following a concept to proportionally grow business and residential areas. The building has been designed by Wolfgang Kergassner architects, built from 2007 to 2009.
It is located on the opposite side of Stuttgart's tallest building, the LBBW-Highrise, which has been featured in this picture series as well.

Recently, I spent a day with Marc, a brand ambassador of the German cycling brand Biehler, to photograph their deep winter collection. In this first series, the model wears the Deep Winter Jacket.
"Freezing weather is no excuse. With our deep winter jacket you can focus on your training no matter what the weather is outside. This winter jacket was designed for trips in winter temperatures and adverse conditions."

There are so many misconceptions about running. Questions like:
Where do you run?
And why?
Of all things: Why run?
Is there something you are running from?
Let me try and get this straight. Would you ask a flower why it blooms in spring?
A newborn falcon why it’s gonna flap its wings?
You wouldn’t ask the earth why it’s so obsessed with the sun.
But you’ll ask me about why I run?

This year, we really had a golden autumn in Stuttgart with nice sunny warm days. To spend some time outside, I asked my girlfriend (who is not a professional model) to take some photos. That way, we can spend time outside and I get to take some new sports photos.

I was asked to take an environmental portrait session of a university founded PHD graduation project, in which he studied different growing methods for hemp. No worries, the pictured hemp contains only a very small amount of THC. Nonetheless, this amount was enough to made my head spin after 3 hours photographing. =D

The construction of the new headquarters of the tool service provider Hahn+Kolb Group in Ludwigsburg is an architectural highlight in the region. The company was located at the previous location in Stuttgart-Feuerbach for more than 100 years, but the lack of local capacities made expansion impossible. The new area in the west of Ludwigsburg, on the other hand, offered ideal conditions for a new building. Within 15 months, a modern logistics center and an administration building were built on the 48,000 square meter property.
The new buildings were designed in an unusual geometry: dynamically rising from south to north, the almost 20m high distribution center opens into a crystalline glass body. The north-facing roof area, which extends to the floor, also serves as an open staircase to the lounge area on the first floor. An absolute specialty are the south facades - also inclined to the ground - which are fully equipped with photovoltaic elements. From a static point of view, the individual geometry of the sales and technology center is both a challenge and a masterpiece: the massive sloping facades are architectural features and at the same time the fundamental elements of the structure. Like the rest of the roof areas, these steep facades were sealed with plastic sheets from Sika Germany.
The energy facade now lies like a skin over both parts of the building and ensures an annual electricity yield of 88,000 kWh. In addition, the entire building concept complies with the principle of sustainability: natural ventilation and bright workplaces through the house-high glass facades, skylights and a spacious atrium ensure ideal working conditions.

I was recently hired by the Staatstheater Nürnberg, to "use the last sunny days of autumn" to create exterior shots for 3 of their buildings, following a brief to shoot the building during day-and night time. Here's one of them.

Ballet and architecture have one thing in common: The right attitude posture is important. With this building concept, the Munich architects Burger Rudcas won the competition for the new building of the renowned ballet school John-Cranko in Stuttgart.
The jury particularly appreciated the successful examination of the property's hillside and the high quality, variety and separation of functional areas. Following the urban development strategy, the building can be accessed from two sides - and thus gained two new addresses: The ballet school with boarding school on the top of Werastraße, the rehearsal stage below on Urbanplatz.
The building complex encompasses a wide variety of uses, from the large rehearsal hall to eight smaller dance halls and adjoining boarding rooms for 75 ballet students. Burger Rudacs stagger four other building segments on top of the rehearsal stage, each 18 meters deep and parallel to the slope up to the entrance level on Werastraße. Each of these one-story segments houses a large and a small ballet hall.
For the facade, Burger Rudacs decided for double-shell exposed concrete walls with a lying board structure. The material should underline the clarity of the structure and strengthen the public character of the school.
