Drone photos I captured of the recent eruption of Fagradalsfjall in Southern Iceland
August 4th | 2022 | Fagradalsfjall | Iceland
The eruption was unique among the volcanoes monitored in Iceland so far and is expected to develop into a shield volcano. Due to its relative ease of access from Reykjavík, the volcano has become an attraction for local people and foreign tourists. Another eruption, very similar to the 2021 eruption, began on 3 August 2022 and is currently ongoing.

Yesterday, I took out my new DJI for a test flight. I previously scouted the location during my race bike training. It's probably the largest and most beautiful vineyard in the area.
This shot is an HDR taken directly into the sun light, which was blocked and softened through autumnal fog. The photo was taken in Weinstadt, Germany.

Although it is one of the later completed buildings in the Düsseldorf port, the new customs yard (Gehry buildings) with its extroverted design is a highly symbolic building for the structural transition from the old customs port to the media harbour.
Located on the northern edge of the harbor, the building ensemble, designed by the famous American architect Frank O. Gehry, acts as a link to the city.
The building volume is divided into three sculptural structures that form a trinity in their expressive form, but differ greatly in their execution.
When life is slowing down after a crazy year. Time to take a break from city life out in nature near my parents' house. Enjoying the silence.

The Z-UP building is a z-shaped building (when seen from the air), which is consequently split between an office complex in one part and a residential complex in the other part, following a concept to proportionally grow business and residential areas. The building has been designed by Wolfgang Kergassner architects, built from 2007 to 2009.
It is located on the opposite side of Stuttgart's tallest building, the LBBW-Highrise, which has been featured in this picture series as well.

There's still more from Gdańsk's island. I loved this sunset a lot: Frozen water, orange Reed, snow and a beautiful sky with numerous small clouds. Really beautiful!
This pictures series has been taken on an assignment for an agency from Munich (Stromberger PR). I was hired to capture the hotel as clean and architectural as possible to emphasize the design character of the hotel. Other unique selling points of the hotel are the food as well as the view you can enjoy while dining and relaxing in the outside area.

Last weekend, I spent three nights at Europe's highest wild camp site at 1900 m MSL. For two days, we were blessed with perfect hiking weather and spent our days hiking up the valley to Aiguilles Rouges (2965m), Pas de Chêvres (2991m) and Col de Riedmatten (2925m).
For our last morning in Switzerland, we scheduled a sunrise shoot of Mount Colon, hoping for it to be illuminated in a warm red tone. Well, as you can see that did not work out but instead Mount Colon decided to say goodbye to us by revealing himself for a last time for 30 seconds, as we were standing in between two walls of fog from both sides of the valley. I did not have much time to take the shot, so I took handheld HDR brackets. Still to me, the cloud patterns are amazing!

On my way home from an architectural shoot, I saw that sky firing up and spontaneously stopped there. It was right on time: I managed to pull of a time-blend of an early blue hour shot with the sunset in the background. It was perfect! I guess this has potential to make a difference from all the other shots out there of this landmark.

An architectural series of an anthroposophic building in Dornach, Switzerland.
The Goetheanum is the world center for the anthroposophical movement.
The building was designed by Rudolf Steiner and named after Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. It includes two performance halls (1500 seats), gallery and lecture spaces, a library, a bookstore, and administrative spaces for the Anthroposophical Society; neighboring buildings house the society's research and educational facilities. Conferences focusing on themes of general interest or directed toward teachers, farmers, doctors, therapists, and other professionals are held at the center throughout the year.
Both the present Goetheanum building and its precursor have been widely cited as masterpieces of modern architecture.
Steiner's architecture is characterized by a liberation from traditional architectural constraints, especially through the departure from the right-angle as a basis for the building plan. For the first Goetheanum he achieved this in wood by employing boat builders to construct its rounded forms; for the second Goetheanum by using concrete to achieve sculptural shapes on an architectural scale. The use of concrete to achieve organically expressive forms was an innovation for the times; in both buildings, Steiner sought to create forms that were spiritually expressive.

I guess, there is not much to say for me, but this picture embodies everything I always thought a good portrait should have. Finally, I was able to pull it off, with sharpness, expression, urban environment and a decent retouch with the right color and real snow that is visible and mood enhancing. She is not a model and it was her first shooting.
The beauty of hiking is the solitude in nature, the view on the top and just getting grounded to the basic needs of our everyday life: Food and shelter. In the mountains I easily disconnect, just focus on my goal and try to get as quick as possible to the top without long breaks. Every break slows you down and needs new overcoming to start again every time. On the top then, I celebrate my achievement.

The golden hour a few days ago was just amazing. It literally blew my mind. I guess I have never seen such a mesmerising sunset over a city yet. The combination of Norwegian wooden houses, mountains, islands in the fjord and the dramatic cloud is just flawless and perfect!

Over the last two years, I have lost interest in landscape photography although it was where it all began for me.
My decreasing interest comes from all the repetitive images I see on a daily basis on Instagram: Same spot, same composition, same processing. Geotags have destroyed the original idea of landscape photography: Scouting a location, waiting for the best light and slowing down in nature to just enjoy nature's cinema. Nowadays, on all those Instagram spots, you are cramped in to crowds of people chasing down the same shot.
For this shot, I went on multiple different hikes and vantage points around the valley to scout my favourite composition and waited for snow to fall, so that it looks like a "powder sugar coated" winter wonderland of a small village with a huge and beautiful cathedral surrounded by christmas lights in the streets.
That brought me back the original spirit and joy of landscape photography. Being all by myself and searching the right spot for myself. Old school is true school.
