In a pioneering step towards sustainable offshore wind energy, the BOEM Environmental Studies Program collaborated with the BOEM Office of Renewable Energy Programs on the study: 'Evaluating Effectiveness of Nature Inclusive Design Materials (AT-22-09).'
This project tests innovative materials for cable and scour protection, which are used to safeguard installations and foster marine growth and enhance fish habitats. Aimed at mitigating the environmental impact of offshore wind farms, this study is integral in determining the balance between energy development and marine ecosystem preservation.

To make a set of six beanbags, you will need:
- cotton or cotton blend for the exterior (approx 1/8m)
- plain fabric for the lining (approx 1/8m)
- a 900gram bag of small white beans
- rotary cutter and cutting mat or scissors
- ruler
* note: any kind of fabric will do, and it's a great way to use up your scraps.
