Humanity

Using natural materials, found objects, and furniture pieces, Heinz Frank (* 1939) creates sculptures that evoke living beings. His 1975 sculpture das ein Mensch sein könnte (that could be a human) is made of granite and aluminium - hard materials giving rise to a seemingly besouled form.

The sculpture Heim für gefallene Mädchen (Home for Wayward Girls (2013) of Verena Dengler (* 1981) draws attention to the plight of Jewish women. Herein Dengler takes as a subject Anna O., Sigmund Freud's patient whose case marks the beginning of psychoanalysis. Anna O. was a pseudonym for Bertha Pappenheim (1859 - 1936), who in 1935 donated her important collection of European laces to the MAK.

Das Menschliche

Hein Frank (* 1930) schafft wesenhafte Skulpturen aus natürlichen Materialien, gefundenen Objekten und Möbelstücken. Die Arbeit das ein Mensch sein könnte (1975 besteht aus Granit und Aluminium- harten Materialien, aus denen eine beseelt anmutende Plastik entsteht.

Die Skulptur Heim für gefallene Mädchen (2013) von Verena Dengler (* 1981) verweist auf das Schicksal jüdischer Frauen. Hier beschäftigt sich Dengler mit Anna O., jener Patientin, mit der laut Sigmund Freud die Psychoanalyse begann. Hinter dem Pseudonym Anna O. steht Bertha Pappenheim (1859 - 1936), die dem MAK 1935 ihre bedeutende Sammlung europäischer Spitzen schenkte.
