Macro Mondays Keyhole theme 2020

Lost/found Theme for Macro Monday

Oh, what treasures are hidden behind that padlock?

Out and about, I discovered locks locked to my favorite footbridge.

As you can see, the lock is not always the Master.

Seattle, Washington

Taken in the Kennedy Heights neighborhood of Cincinnati, Ohio.

Actually, I guess this is more correctly called a "rusty old iron gate".

Fujifilm X-H1 ACROS simulation with grain and contrast added in camera, processed with Affinity Photo

The lock was used to keep vehicles out from a parking lot in Bluefield, WV.

A bit of rust makes an interesting statement.

Remnant from my Detroit shots.

A crusty old MasterLock on some even crustier lockers.

Padlocks on the RVA flood wall Manchester side

So there is this place I heard about where couples (newlyweds I guess considering I saw about 7 different brides in wedding dresses braving the -20 degree cold) sign and attach a lock to these metal "trees" on the bridge and then throw the key to the lock over the bridge into the Moscow River. There were about 15 trees and I took tons of pictures, but liked this one the best because you get to see the variety of locks and how packed in they are. I love this little tradition the city made for its people - but it has one problem. The Moscow River is frozen solid probably 6 months of the year, so their keys are all gathering on top of the ice for half the year... I guess you don't get that romantic "plop" like when you throw a coin into a fountain. Still cool idea though!

"Strictly Textures"

This is my interpretation of a shot taken by one of my friends (Brown Pelican)....

We had a wonderful afternoon "class" as we shared techniques on using textures to add depth and "story" to an image at one of the local Starbucks. She is a real delight and encourager. Take a look at her stream if you have not been there before.

Taken at a boathouse along the Crooked River inland waterway in Alanson, Michigan.

I wouldn't think this is an overly secure way to protect a valuable boat. It was on the door to one of the slips in an old building that has been there since I first visited the area over some 60 years ago. Some of the other nearby boathouses were in similarly poor looking condition and have more recently been removed.

Nyhavn Canal

Copenhagen, Denmark

Spotted this whilst wandering the back streets of Southampton, wasn't sure if it was a actually a house with 14 flats or an advert for the lock company!

As seen in Explore, August 11, 2013.

Taken in Bay View, Michigan.
