Hello March, you've come in with snow and wind so hopefully you'll warm up as the month passes by and leave us with a bit grass by the time we're welcoming April.

Hope all is well and everyone is staying safe.

March is mad with the world-wide COVID-19 pandemic, so a little snowfall in northern IL doesn't seem to intimidating.

Swiss Air Force F-5E at Sion on 11th March 2013.

The March to Spalding section of the former GN & GE joint line which closed in 1982 is widely acknowledged as being a short sighted candidate for closure. Congestion caused by freight traffic having to use the ECML at Peterborough illustrates this and rumours of a possible reopening have abounded for years now. In the days when the alternative route was still well used, with March North box in the background, 47141 heads north with a train of tankers running in the path of 6G55 14.10 Royston - Lindsey O.R. May 5th 1981. This loco is better known in its former guise as D1733, the first loco to trial the BR blue livery soon after building in the Summer of 1964.

Furzehill Road, Borehamwood, looking towards the town centre. The bus is on the 107 route to Edgware and is turning into the end of Ashley Drive. This is almost the furthest south you can go and still be in the town. At this point all the development is on the right hand side of the road. On the left is a field with horses grazing in it.

Last Sunday at the carnival parade in Mödling near Vienna. My favourites are the little girl on the far left and the second woman from the right, the one with the auburn hair.

I passed out after getting home. Just got up and must post one as promised...Will have to do the rest tomorrow...

Daytrippers at March witness the arrival of the 08.40 Cambridge - Skegness on Sunday 3rd August 1980.

37039 was a March based loco which moved to Scotland in February 1981. It had recently undergone overhaul at Crewe Works and had emerged retaining its bufferbeam skirts and round buffers as well as black headcode boxes. Doncaster Works were turning out 37s in revised condition from late 1979 onwards.

A good time at the seaside was had that day with a party from Fenland 18+ Group I seem to recall.

Some lovely coltsfoots (Tussilago farfara) from my neighborhood early March last year.

Legate Mark slowly leads his legion deeper and deeper into enemy territory.

One of Mark's tribunes Titus Labienus seemed anxious as to their speed.

"Legate Mark, are we not moving at to sluggish a pace to reach the city by nightfall?"

Mark smiled in his usual way.

"Surely you are not impatient, Labienus? You know as well as I that Lampsacus has no walls, Tylis fears its colonies may rebel and prevents them from building fortifications."

Labienus' forehead creased in perplexity.

"What has that to do with our pace of speed?"

Mark turned his head round to face his trusted lieutenant.

"Let me explain my reasoning. I doubt very much we will be given the opportunity to besiege the city itself. The citizens will obviously want to fight us in the most advantageous way possible. That cannot be done while sitting in a defenceless city while waiting for us to surround them. No, they will be coming out to intercept us. Ambushes and surprise attacks are not out of the question, therefore we should proceed with the greatest caution lest we be utterly destroyed."

Labienus raised his eyebrows.

"I now see the logic of a methodical march. Let us hope that the Tylisians are honorable in warfare and do not pounce from the shadows like the barbarians."

Mark felt a rush of exhilaration at the thought of impending battle.

"I have a feeling that they will be warriors of a different mettle my friend."
