It's natural, before the actual seeding to take place.. you need to plough the field.

But nowadays its more common for a field to be ploughed with a machine rather than manually.

well, here it is, time to rejoin the diary group. I can't help it, I love diaries, I love them so much. I like the insight into lives, I like the intimacies, I like the stories and I like my flickr friends. The diary group is fantastic in that there isn't a problem with starting, stopping and restarting the project. It is understood that people are different and diaries are individual. Some special people make up the group: sunshinecity, buns, rob among many others :)) I am pleased to have inspired a couple of people to create diaries, cooliceblue, I'm going to hunt you down.

manual focus using 55-200mm lens without a tripod... not the best ever but not too bad considering :D

Tourist trap (vintage manual focus lens)

Despite rain, cold, and generally miserable weather for an outdoor gourmet food truck and wine tasting event, these guys had outstanding coffee to warm you up.

Nikon D3s in full manual video control - had to ramp the ISO right down to get narrow DOF in bright sunlight - even with a ND and a polariser in the matte box. Would have been easier with a ND Fader....

Would it not be nice if there was a manual for each person so that we would know all the do‘s and don’ts and how to?

Nah, on second thought, then we would miss out on the pleasure of getting to know another person and getting to know our selves at the same time.

Having a go with all manual.

If the colors seem a little too warm off creamtone, it's because I accidentally left f.lux enabled while making my first round of edits and went back in to warm things up later. Oops.

None of the flies (or other insects) in my photos are frozen or dead. None have been manually 'posed'. All are photographed alive and well in their natural environment, unless they are being killed or eaten by another insect in the photo.

Manual focus Sigma 14mm f3.5 @ f8.

The current m42 manual lenses I use with my Canon.

The 400mm (640mm in digital !) is a new addition today so I have still to test it out fully, as massive as it appears it weighs less than my sigma 10-20.

Now hunting down a 2x and 3x convertor and I know where there is a 500mm and a 600mm for sale (though the prices are much higher than i would normally pay the possibility exist to have an equivalent of an 2880mm F8 lens, with the 400mm alone and a 3x convertor thats 1920mm@f6.3 + given drop off for conversion)

Week 1 - Day 4 - Contemplate Your Shot

18-105@18mm - ISO 200 - f/5 - 1/40

I've seen a lot of spinning around hand-held self-portraits this week and wanted to try it myself. I tried inside and outside, with and without the neutral density filter. I just couldn't really get it right!

I manually exposed this shot by metering against the back of my hand.

Edited by applying a low opacity infared b&w layer, high pass filter (thanks Ashley!). Used Patti Brown's Golden Sun Glow and Vintage Dream Burst II textures.
