En dimmig morgon vid sundet och fåglarna får snart luft under vingarna.

Ready for anything.

Further up the Sleepy Lion Trail, we hit the top of the ridge and the sun is out again. This must be the lion's"mane." More rocks on top? You betcha! Even up here, the trail has to skirt rocks and trees. The rocks must have migrated over the millennia. Even Trump couldn't stop the migration! It's clear that there is a high point ahead and is a good lookout. I scoped this hill ahead on Google maps and it looks to me the object of Sleazy Lion Trial is the look out to a pretty good view of the hills, a to the Divide over them and the long route down to Buttonrock Dam. The recent pesky cloud broke into a normal rush from the Divide. After all, how many total days like this is one allotted in a year.

I tried, "Alexa, haul me up to the top of Sleepy Lion Trail!" I had no idea that there are things that can't be accomplished when on the couch as a potato! Who knew that exercise means leaving Alexa and the couch behind.

Apparently Phil only wanted to look over the ridge where we looked for the Hall Ranch Longmont Dam construction road. Maybe he is tapped today. Even though we previously walked this branch trail to the old road, we never did spy that road from here today. There are streteches of that road that have cold-patch blacktop and could be traveled at 50. We have previously walked that Hall/construction road down to the bottom of Rottenbuck dam. Here is the trail to the top for the view west to the Rockies backbone.

The elder Navajo tells of the legend, "The rain will come when the sky looks like many sheep."

Earlier, the sun started slowly warming this skinny canyon where almost every direction is uphill. We trekked the territory several times in the past and had nothing in mind but headed up Sleepy Lion Trail anyhow. When these shots were on the card, we started back up Sleezy Lion Trail in hopes of getting there before long. Oh well, rentless onward, per Walt Kelly!

The entire canyon, above the old Longmont reservoir is deep and a glorious slice in the Rockies' crust all the way west to Wild Basin and Copeland Lake along the Peak-to-Peak Highway at the southern end of Rocky Mountain National Park. Some of it can be seen from the high point. The river, in its valley, is a quarter mile down below the Taylor Mountain. Taylor is the source of many shots in my photostream. I have too many shots awaiting edit.

One of Bristol Zoo's beautiful lions basks in the late march sun.

I've often found them to be behind the fencing which makes pictures impossible, but on this day they were in the glass area, so it gave some great chances

Male lions have impressive manes that serve multiple purposes. The mane is a symbol of masculinity and plays a vital role in attracting mates and intimidating potential rivals. It also serves as a defense mechanism during fights, providing protection to the head and neck. The size, color, and length of the mane can vary among individuals, with darker manes being more attractive to females. However, some male lions may have smaller or non-existent manes due to factors such as heat and nutrition.

My mane.... Had a bad experience in 6th grade with my hair ....

Now I cut in once a year when I see split ends ....

haven't owned a hairdryer in 20+ years .....

It's up when I work or play...

Down and curled if I go out...

And rarely brush it ...

It's who I am ....

Now you know to much about my mane..... :)
