How I love to see them when they fluff up their gorgeous manes !! Sometimes waiting a little bit longer does pay off !! They are beautiful at anytime but I must say this moment is one of my favorites.

Wishing you a great weekend and a very Blessed one !!!!

Shaggy manes (Coprinus comatus) have a rounded, slender dry white cap covered with flat to somewhat elevated reddish brown scales. Upon emerging from the soil, the white cap quickly turns a moist inky black from liquefying gills. At this stage the mushroom is not edible, although not poisonous.

I met this lovely fellow today. It was drizzling with rain and both my mane and his were soaked. I think I minded more than he did.

Sunday morning walk through Grand Ravines North and found a few mushrooms still hanging around. These i believe are called Shaggy Mane mushrooms.

Shaggy Mane

The mane has often been viewed as a shield that protects a male's neck during fights against other males, but lions mostly attack each other on the back and hips. Instead, the size and coloration of the mane serves as a signal to other lions about the male's fitness, similar to the showiness of the peacock's tail.

The beautiful alpenglow lights up the San Francisco peaks at Maine of Arizona on a gorgeous fall evening. Many of you will note, hilariously, the DPU power on this train was 2 Norfolk Southern engines. Travel across the country, get a Perfect scene, great lighting, and I still can’t outrun the HONSE. God, as they say, has a funny sense of humor, and all we could do was laugh at this one.

I feel sorry for the horses,

their manes are covered with seeds,

she can hardly see,

and it must be prickley!

Used my zoom lens to its full capacity as the lion was some distance away.

BRUNO: "In case you are wondering where that wild mane came from.... I borrowed a piece of Mami Kat's hair! For this, I once again reached for the scissors..."

A pair of "horse mane" painted AC44C6M rebuilds and a heritage until made for a good motive to be up and out early this morning on the Lurgan Branch last month. NS 4000, the first D9-40C to be rebuilt was making it's third trip leading on the branch, but the first time in decent light. Trailing was NS 4002, the first of the Roanoke rebuilds and NS 8114, the "original" Norfolk Southern heritage unit.

Milo's mane is becoming more and more glorious everyday.

NS 1800 AC to DC conversation (Yellow Mane) takes 12Z north at Vesuvius. Here they are seen passing the nearly century old N&W bracket. The insects chirping is the only the heard for miles in the Valley, until 12Z grinds to the crest of the 1.7% Vesuvius grade.
