Me a few years ago: "Yeah, I managed to replace the AC motor in my car by myself, but if I'd known what a hassle it would've been, I would've just paid someone to do it for me."
Me in 2023: "I mean, I did it by myself before, I can probably do it again in 90 degree weather and with a barely-functional broken elbow."

I normally edit all my images at work and print them out on works printers, however, I have started doing a lot of editing on my laptop but was noticing the colours were a bit off. So this evening when it was quiet I colour calibrated my laptop with the spyder and I notice a huge difference already. Need to edit loads of pics now and see what they print like.

Krishna Janmastami celebrations started with an beautiful theatre production on the life of Saint Tukaram. Tukaram was a simple man born into India's 15 centuary low caste. The family were traders and managed to suceed sucessfully until a great famine had occurred due to draught. This caused Tukarams region (Dehu) to suffer starvation and hence poverty. The family lost everything and soon Tukarams family began to die only leaving behind his second wife, Avali and their son and daughters. Tukaram began to reflect and realise that the purpose of his life was to dedicate it to Vitalla fully and so although he remained married his attention was fixated onto the lords feet and nothing else. This caused much fustration to his wife, neverthelss she remained dedicated in serving Tukaram without fail.
Tukaram's love for God intensified and so one day he had a dream where Vitalla and Naamdev appeared to him and told him to compose divine poems (Abhangs) which are still sung to this day. His intense love for Vitalla intensified to such an extent that he saw Vitalla everywhere. Everything was Vitalla and his very being was infused with the divine name, Rama Krishna Hari which he spread. Due to his popularity he had a number of rivals, one of the most influential being Rameshwara Bhatt. He was renowned for his knowledge and had much power in the region. Being extremely jealous he ordered Tukaram to drown his poems into the Indriyani river claiming them to be untrue interpretations of scripture.
Tukaram understood the deeper meaning behind the scripture whereas Rameshwar Bhatt did not. One say Rameshwar Bhatt had a dream which clearly stated that he had mistreated a lords devotee and so Rameshard Bhatt did eventually seek forgiveness. He became one of Tukarams main disciples. At the end of his live Tukaram was collected by the lord himself by sending Garuda.

Managed to score a New Avengers Scarlet Witch for a pretty good price recently. She's used and has some joint looseness, but the outfit itself is still in pristine condition.
This is my first Hot Toys Wanda, and I have to say that overall she's a much better time of having her figures actually look right as compared to Black Widow. The face is of course not perfect and has that lack of facial contouring older head had, but at least it looks like her. Rooting/styling isn't terrible either, despite not being the fancy new hair.
Tailoring has generally been a strong suit for Hot Toys, and it is evident even on an older figure like this one. I have to say though, while pose is generally awkward (as with pretty much all Hot Toys figures), the actual amount of give on the outfit is not bad, and you can actually do some decent casual poses. The lack of ankle articulation makes battle posing or any poses where the feet aren't perfectly flat on the ground a bit of a chore.
Paint Applications are strong, as expected. No issues with any paint work, even the smaller paint apps such as on the fingers and ears are nicely done. Build Quality, play wear issues aside, appear to be good, with nicely moulded effects parts made of soft plastic.

John Pitts, Sheila, myself and Wilf, my husband, managed to hold the fort for four sessions with 22 children
in each: three sessions in the morning with a coffee break and one in the afternoon after an excellent buffet
lunch. No school dinners for us! We had lots of space in the sports hall which dissipated the noise a little
and allowed the children to roam around a bit more. We took items from the nature table including a mini
food web based on our Tawny Owl and some owl pellets. The furry creatures were very popular but had a
bit of rough handling at times. We set up three quizzes as well. One was the original one with multiple
choice answers admirably managed by “Big Bad John”. A short distance away was a new quiz where the
names of the creatures were scrambled up. Easy for those who knew what the photos were but a little
harder to solve the anagrams. Seeing the sense of achievement on the faces of the pupils that worked it
out for themselves was a joy to behold. The third quiz was much more challenging, especially as we had to
make it visible to half a dozen children simultaneously. It comprised of a series of numbered photos of
immature stages of animals and plants alongside corresponding lettered photos of the mature forms of the
same. So it was necessary to identify what each photo was before matching the pairs correctly. Lots of
children suggested an acorn grew into an acorn tree but matching the frog with its spawn and the dandelion
clock with its flowers was much easier. Each session consisted of pupils from every year group and while
some of them were not very interested, there were many that were very keen and some were really quite
knowledgeable. There were some adults from the school at all the sessions and even they learnt something
too. Seeing those pupils that knew some of the answers flourish and the sense of achievement of those
getting correct answers when they thought they were guessing made what was a long day all worthwhile.
I managed to sneak in a visit to Hardwick Hall before it was forced to close for the November lockdown. Wednesday 4th November 2020. It’s one of the grandest and most important Elizabethan country houses and it’s actually changed very little since that period. The grounds of the estate are well worth a visit too with ponds and good views of the house. Visitors to Hardwick Hall can’t fail to miss the ruined Old Hall which stands opposite the entrance to the “new” Hall. Some people think that the old hall must be a lot older than the new hall, but actually they were built at almost the same time!
Hardwick Old Hall was built 1587-1596 by Bess of Hardwick, who was among the richest and best-connected women of the Elizabethan age. After the collapse of her fourth marriage to George Talbot, 6th Earl of Shrewsbury, Bess fled from Chatsworth in 1584 to her family estate at Hardwick where she started work on the [old] Hall which was on the site of the small manor house where she was born.
In 1590 her husband died and Bess recovered control of all her lands and acquired a very sizeable widow’s jointer. Before Hardwick Old Hall was even complete, Bess immediately started to build another larger, much grander house immediately beside this (the "New Hall") this time using architect Robert Smythson. The two halls were intended to complement each other, like two wings of one building.
Bess died in 1608, later Dukes of Devonshire eventually came to prefer Chatsworth over Hardwick, and partially dismantled the Old Hall in the 1750s, and it gradually became ruinous. The whole estate was transferred to the National Trust in 1959 and although the Old Hall (which is actually operated by English Heritage) is open to the elements, many of the original plaster overmantels are still in place. However, the Old Hall has been closed this year for essential conservation work. It is possible to look around the outside though, and the Hardwick estate is remaining open during the current pandemic restrictions, check the National Trust amd English Heritage websites for details.
