Back in Springfield after nabbing #145, I managed to get to Hazel Dell just in time to nail ZMQG4 heading north to Global 4 in gorgeous evening light.

Managed to identify at least 3 different individuals, Mrs Hungry

I managed to get out Thursday afternoon and went up to Padley Gorge to see how the autumn colours are progressing I was also keen to try out a new lens that I've just got so it was a great opportunity to put it through it's paces.

It was pretty dull and overcast so ideal conditions to shoot Burbage brook and woods, the colours are looking lovely now and my new lens seems to work ok too.(2sec f6.3 @ 9mm 0.9 soft ND grad + polarising filters)

I managed to narrow down to 18 pictures from today to upload, and I'm going to upload them 3 a day :)

Today I went for a shoot with Ylana, Clem and Gemma and it was delightful :D I took a good mixture of stuff too :) most of them are of Ylana, aha, then most of the Clem ones are hand shots, and then I barely shot Gemma, but Ylana took so many of her that I think it makes up for it aha.

I hope you all enjoy them! :)

So yeah, I'm back! :D I promise I have a couple of photoshoots in the pipeline, and I'm going to try to shoot more regularly, and I'll spread the pictures from shoots over a longer period so there is more new stuff for you all to feast your eyes on :) and maybe in a few weeks if I have the money I'll buy pro :D so we'll see what happens :)

Managed to get above the clouds and from the miradouro was amazed to see this rainbow over the town.

Managed to get up early enough to catch the sunrise. This is looking at the south tip of Quadra Island on the left of the image with the sun peaking over the coastal range on the mainland.

The UK's smallest bird. Some of these tiny birds migrate across the North Sea from Scandinavia for the winter. How on earth do they manage that?

I managed to spot this family and snap their picture while they were checking me out. I initially thought it was just two bears, but if you look through the plants you can see another eye looking through a small hole, just below mom's face. The unique coloring is thanks to the Kolari Vision IR Chrome filter, which is meant to mimic the old Kodak Aerochrome filter. So what you're seeing is not Photoshop, but rather a modified camera. In any case, I love the fall look it creates!

Managed to get the last bit of the sun before it setting down for the day -Hangnaameedhoo, Maldives

managed a few hours out yesterday with some help from a mate . mixed bag of shots but good to be out doing what I love . not yet back to full strength so some a bit shaky

A predator managed to spark a massive blast off of snow geese at the Bernardo Wildlife Area in New Mexico. Evidently, the sandhill cranes didn't get the memo!

This was a narrow field of view of the overall blast off. I could've used a wide angle lens and included many more geese. The uprising caught me by surprise so I just had to go with the lens that was currently attached.

Managed to capture a shooting star in the top right corner!

Managed to pull this off within 5 hours last year, got away before i could clean it up and add more too it

Managed to get away from the desk for a quick snap in the woods during a foggy day!

First of all don't look at my hand it has got as many layers of msc on it as the doll's face has.

Now I still need to glue her mouth.

The finished doll will be photographed tomorrow. Just to be sure I'll leave her head off the body so the mouth is able to dry all night without any friction.

She's not my Punzie, she turned out different than I imagined.

Although I do like her I won't be heart broken if her face up would ever get damaged and maybe it is better that way

I'm not entirely happy with this one. I'm posting it to see if anyone disagrees. There was a lot of flare in the waterfall area, but I managed to clean it up a bit. The overall effect is a little too crunchy. I may revisit it at some point.

Managed to grab half an hour at Charnwood Water with the magic formula of sunshine and wildlife (woohoo!)

The coot family were alarmingly unperturbed by people, which is a bit concerning really...

Thanks for looking, it's really appreciated :)

I managed a few shots of the line through Leigh on Sea during my trip to the South-East at the end of March. Here we see C2C's 357321 heading west towards it's final destination of Fenchurch Street through the town, with the Thames estuary (or vast expanse of mud!) visible beyond. Saturday 30.3.19

I managed to find 4 newly emerged Red veined Darters at a private site near Reculver. Think the immature stage is probably my best and very pleased with the results. More photos @ www.marcheathwildlifephotography.zenfolio.com. Click 'My Blog'.

Managed to capture this Heron as the sun was setting. It let me get quite close which is unusual and seemed to be posing for me!

This was taken the first night of Glacier boot camp with Aaron and Alan. When there are clear skies, shoot for the stars. Just hours before, it was all different; the sky was blanketed with clouds with a thunderstorm rolling through the mountains. However the thunderstorm unleashed its force so swiftly it departed the scene far too quickly. All we were left with was clear skies.

Surely the epic sunset we were hoping for was not going to happen but at least I could put my rented lens to use. I knew I wanted to frame the Milky Way with Mt. Reynolds in the background and hence I searched for an interesting foreground. Luckily, Logan Pass area has a plethora of compositions with various cascades, waterfalls, and wildflower patches. I ultimately settled on this particular shelf with a twin cascade flowing over it. Looking up I noticed the valley to the right of Mt. Reynolds. With Mt. Reynolds having so much prominence, I wanted to frame the Milky Way appearing from behind Mt. Reynolds with the core filling in the space in that valley.

One thing I was not quite used to in Montana was the extremely long days. I had not realized being so far up north increased the daytime by so much. On top of that, it took far longer for the sky to get dark enough for the Milky Way to become visible. At last by 11pm, the sky finally darkened enough for stars to twinkle. And there she was: the Milky Way exposed herself from behind Mt. Reynolds. For majority of the time the core was hidden behind Mt. Reynolds but I waited until the Milky Way moved enough to expose its core in the valley as I had originally envisioned. By around 11:30pm, the scene was complete. The Milky Way stretched diagonally across my frame and the majority of the core was exposed in the relief of the valley.

I managed to test out the close focus of my bird lens with this one!!!

Taken yesterday during a session at Hunter Wetlands Center (Shortland, NSW; Australia).

This was my last shot of the day too.

Most of my time was spent trying to spot and capture a male Scarlet Honeyeater that I posted yesterday (more to follow!).

*** Check this out LARGE on Black!! ***

Hope you like it!

Thanks for any comments, views or favorites - always appreciated!!!

Hope each of you have a fantastic day and weekend ahead!!

I finally managed to get some good foliage shots today. Since I don't live in a place that has particularly vibrant fall colors, I'm getting a bit of a lesson in processing naturally saturated colors (such as the deep oranges in the leaves of certain trees). Indeed, some of my shots looked like they were oversaturated from the get-go.

Anyway, I pulled up to this spot and I saw two hunters up the road, so I signaled to let them know I was there. I didn't want to shout because I thought that would scare off whatever they were trying to kill, but one of them shouted back "DON'T WORRY, WE SEE YOU!" I'm not big on hunting and there's a small part of me that might have made enough noise to scare off the unwitting prey, but I also didn't want to get a derrière full of lead at the hands of a vengeful hunter. Anyway, what I loved about shooting this grove of trees was the radial look fo the trunks when shot from a low angle. I also loved the vibrance of the colors and the fact that I was able to capture some clouds in the sky. I think this would have been a nice shot even with a cloudless sky, but I do like that it's a bit more interesting with the clouds.

Managed to get this one published in the local newspaper.

Managed a break in the rain a few weeks back.

--

So ventured down to my local park in search of some Snowdrops, ideal conditionas as it was still overcast.

--

Found it tricky to get a good angle even with the tripod splayed to ground level.

--

Then I came across a fallen tree with the snow drops growing up from the raised root base.

--

This is one from the set I took that morning, a single Snowdrop with rain drops on it.

Managing to fly while holding a fish while having time for a quick poop. Nice..

Managed to get the nice background of another large pot. Really made the succulent pop.

Shakespeare's Birthplace is a restored 16th-century half-timbered house situated on Henley Street in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire. It is believed that William Shakespeare was born here in 1564 and spent his childhood years. It is now a small museum open to the public and a popular visitor attraction, owned and managed by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.

[Over the two weeks we spent in England at the beginning of May amid a whirlwind of feverish preparations for our daughter’s wedding, I managed to secure of few slots of free time to go and visit some of the very few churches still standing from what we would call in Continental Europe the Romanesque age, and which the English call “Norman”, as most of those churches were built around or after the Conquest in 1066. Anything that’s older, they call “Saxon” or “Anglo-Saxon”. Beginning today, I will take you on a tour of my lovely finds in the countryside of Norfolk, Suffolk and Cambridgeshire.]

Little Snoring... The name itself is so appealing that I couldn’t resist! The church dedicated to Saint Andrew stands on a hilltop and is very notable for being one of only just two with a round tower fully detached from the church itself.

Archæologists believe that, while the tower is from the 11th century, the church we see today replaced an earlier one built on the same site. A lot of materials from the older church were also re-used to build the new one. The function of the tower was primarily to watch the environs, and its round shape was commanded by the difficulty of producing strong corners with the local pebbles and flint builders had to work with.

Most of this very simple church is from the 1100s, while the large Gothic windows are from the 1200s and 1300s, the oldest being the triple window in the eastern wall (what we in Europe would call “the apse”).

The northern wall, very plain and unadorned, retains traces of two doors, a Romanesque and a Gothic one.

For no less than 35 years, Marshal Tito was the face of Yugoslavia. He moved on the stage of world politics with bravado: he opposed the almighty Soviet Union, his Tito-ism formed the ideal buffer against Stalinsm for the West. In short, Tito put Yugoslavia on the world map. More importantly, Tito has managed to maintain stability in Yugoslavia all these years. How did he manage to keep those very strong nationalistic feelings in check all these years? Tito just said: Don't whine, shut up. Most importantly, Tito, with a sophisticated strategy, made sure that no people felt like a minority. No one is better or more valuable than another. As the leader of his partisan army, which consisted of different population groups, he was the only one who really stood above the parties. Especially in the early years of his reign unsavory things happened. Indeed. People who opposed him during the war or shortly afterwards have been disabled. Thousands of people have been murdered and beaten to death. The problem with dictators, and Tito was of course a dictator, is that they don't have suitable successors. No one can and should stand in their shadow, so when such a ruler dies, power falls into the hands of all kinds of incapable figures. After Tito's death in 1980, Yugoslavia is rapidly declining. The increasingly poor relations between the different population groups eventually culminate in a civil war. You can still find slogans of Tito, also here at the abandoned Prevlaka Fortress: Tito - leads our way - to je naš put -

Prevlaka is a peninsula at the entrance to the Bay of Kotor - Montenegro. It is the southernmost point in Croatia. There is a neglected fortress from 1870. It was bombed in 1943 and this is still clearly visible. There are plans for restoration. The reserve is totally overgrown, but nature is breathtaking. There is a beautiful view from the terrace. Prevlaka's strategic location and proximity to a naval base have led Prevlaka to several quarrels between Croatia and Yugoslavia. In the early 1990s, during the Croatian War of Independence, Yugoslavia occupied the peninsula. In 1996, the two countries agreed to demilitarize it, and UN observers came to monitor it. Recognized as a territory of Croatia in 2006. Worth a visit if you like abandoned ancient ruins.

managed a few of these 2 together this month, went with this for the group just because of their goofy expressions (well Biscuit at least)

I managed to capture this long exposure image using my sony fe 28-70mm lens with a hoya 10 stop nd filter.

When i first arrived it was really foggy and misty, barely seeing any of the bridge. luckily within the next hour or so it cleared which enabled me to get the shot i was after. :)

Managed to catch this in-between the rain and strong winds during my walk of yesterday!

Stay Safe and Healthy Everyone!

Thanks to everyone who views this photo, adds a note, leaves a comment and of course BIG thanks to anyone who chooses to favourite my photo .... Thanks to you all!

I managed to get a more side-on view this time. I don't live in an area where these are normally easy to photograph, but this year I've had the best opportunity for years, if not all time!

The trick is, it's not just the bird to pose well that makes up part of the issue, it's also the lighting and perch hes on as you don't want him sat in the shade on a sunny day as this burns out the highlights, and you don't want the background too bright either as your subject becomes shiloetted. Sometimes, they won't stay still long enough either!

I managed to snap this pic right before SL kicked my svelte booty offline ('degraded performance' is an understatement, yo XD). All I wanted to do was take a pic of this shirt, ffs! It's so lovely and sheer and covered in big gold paillettes. SO ME. And yes, I'm totes using the same background as yesterday because I couldn't rez another one. THANKS, SL!

The Essex Skipper (Thymelicus lineola) is a small, warm-coloured skipper butterfly that thrives in sunny grassland habitats. It is most commonly found in unimproved and lightly managed meadows, roadside verges, field margins, coastal grasslands and rough pasture where fine grasses grow in abundance. The caterpillars feed on a range of grasses, particularly cock's-foot, while adults nectar on flowers such as thistles, knapweeds and ragwort during their flight period from late June to August. Although easily overlooked because of its resemblance to the Small Skipper, the Essex Skipper can be identified by the distinctive black underside of its clubbed antennae.

The Essex Skipper is distributed across much of central and southern Europe, extending eastwards into western Asia. In Britain, it was first recognised as a separate species only in 1889, having previously been confused with the Small Skipper. Today it is widespread across southern and eastern England, extending north through the Midlands and into parts of northern England, with a continuing gradual expansion of its range. It remains scarce or absent in Scotland, Wales and much of south-west England. Britain is home to the nominate subspecies, Thymelicus lineola lineola, which is the only subspecies recorded in the UK. The species has benefited from warmer summers and suitable grassland management, allowing populations to increase and spread into new areas.

Managed to capture the quick take off of this Great Blue Heron .....from my kayak. Happy Wing Wedneday

I managed to capture the moment that this Slavonian Grebe opened its bill. It didn't seem to be for any particular reason as it didn't make a sound. I presumed that she was incubating eggs but her partner approached calling and she lowered he head inviting him to mate, and he did just that, while remaining on the nest. This seems odd because grebes can only lay one egg a day at most. But they don't start incubating until the full clutch of 4 or 5 eggs is laid. This means that all the young hatch simultaneously so they can be taken around as a group by the parents. Grebes cover their white eggs with weed as a disguise when they leave the nest or until the full clutch is ready to incubate. But this female sat tight, making me think she was incubating. So why was she mating if the full clutch was laid? Maybe she just felt like it.

This was at a village pond in Swedish Lapland with lots of people around. The grebes seemed oblivious to all the people.
