Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer the capital of the Camargue in the south of France. It is a commune in the Bouches-du-Rhône department by the Mediterranean Sea.
From the village, visitors feel the attraction of the dunes, the sandy beaches and the large marshlands with reeds and "manades" (herd of black bulls and white horses).

A gardian is a mounted cattle herdsman in the Camargue, delta in Provence, southern France.
The gardian is the guardian of a troop of bulls or horses raised in semi-freedom and belonging to a « manadier » (herdman)
The tool of the mounted guardians is the trident and they ride Camargue horses .
