Me having a professional makeover at Douglas. It was a real experience being pampered by such a lovely saleslady.
Mein erstes professionelles Makeup bei Douglas war eine tolle Erfahrung. Es war sehr schön, mal von einem echten Makeup-Profi verwöhnt zu werden.
I'm very glad that I have finally Nefera, in my country hard to get cuz doll has 4 years. The previous owner did for her the own ring and repaired the broken leg. I did repaint. And.. et voilà, c'est tout!
This past week, I got to meet with Monica Prata and get a makeover, including help with my makeup and finding a new wig! I'm hoping to sneak in some more time this weekend to try and re-create what I learned :).

I did this with a virtual makeover cd-rom. So poor Davey didn't have to suffer the indignity of me putting these things on him. LOL

Cody wanted an entire overhaul with his appearance. With reference images Dahlia was able to design a new avatar for him. She even created several outfits for him to rotate so he'd have a look for every occasion.

I had this old dark pine dresser from the 80's, and I decided to "shabby it up" for the living room. I primed it, painted it, and changed the old brass knobs to glass ones.
A high point of 2014 was a photoshoot with a dear friend whom I have stayed in touch with for years. She is making a go of this professionally and was gracious enough to indulge my fantasy of a high quality studio shoot. I had such a good time that I am already planning another visit.
I'll add a couple more later as I get time.

This is me after having my make up done by a professional. It was nice experience to be a fashion model. Everything I am wearing is not mine apart from the hold up stockings.

with apologies to Leonardo, digital "makeover" of Mona Lisa
According to history.com:
"Lisa Gherardini del Giocondo, a wealthy silk merchant’s wife and the mother of five children, has been a leading contender [for da Vinci's model] since an art historian identified her as the sitter in 1550... The 2005 discovery of a 500-year-old note by an acquaintance of da Vinci, which states that the artist was working on Lisa’s portrait, confirmed the theory for many scholars... For reasons that remain unclear, da Vinci never gave the 'Mona Lisa' to the Giocondo family, first taking it to France and later bequeathing it to Salaì [his longtime apprentice]."
Added note: I later learned that it is now believed that da Vinci sold it to the King of France. When it was stolen, the Italian national who stole it thought the French had stolen it, but it was sold by the artist to the French.
Although the original was painted on wood, the reproduction that I scanned was printed on textured paper, therefore both before and after have the appearance of canvas.
I gave Lisa a new do, added makeup, green contact lenses, earrings, a manicure, lowered neckline and changed to a brighter color of clothing. I also added eyebrows, one hair at a time. (The style at the time was for women to either pluck or shave eyebrows.) It took me over a month to complete this, working a couple of hours most days. I think I ended up with about 50 layers.
This is from around 1999. If I were to do it today, I would change the way I did a few things because I know how to do things differently or better in Photoshop and the newer version of Photoshop has more options.
I would go back to rework my image, but my original file with all the layers was lost in a hard-drive crash.
So the other day I got a four doll baggie from a charity shop for £2.50! This gal was in a bit of a state, really thin hair, managed to cut some bangs, which still need a touch up as they're pretty wonky. She's cute now though!
Anyone got an ID for her/her clothes?

After several months giving my home an internal makeover, and then nursing a cold for another month, I rehung my kitchen cabinet doors and put away my paint brushes yesterday. Things are looking up. I celebrated this morning by making my burrowing owl rounds. Found 'em. I'm a really lucky gal.

In May of 2017, I did something that I wasn't sure if I would ever do. Get a makeover. It took a lot of planning for me to organise a visit to Boys Will Be Girls and the incredibly talented Cindy Conti. I was very nervous but she quickly settled me in. I was worried that I would look the same as I would if I had done my make-up. A man trying his best to look like the woman inside himself. I can honestly say right now that I was absolutely blown away by the results! I admit that it took a lot of effort not to burst into tears!
This was the first photograph that she took.
