This is a shot I've had captured in my mind for ages. I'm so glad I can finally share it with you all. Taken from Hawk Hill, in Marin.

No. 7 returns from Magma in the afternoon. This was the largest bridge on the mainline. This is an old Ektachrome that has been run through Photoshop to fix color shift, fading and grain.

Abstrakcja deszczowa.

With 6 hours between Ore train on this day I took the opportunity to catch up with the Magma local that runs from Hayden to Magma and back to interchange with the UP. Here the train is smoking it up as it departs Magma yard limits for home with the 503 and 504 for power, temperature at this time was 113 limiting my photo options to little zoom and mostly back lit shots.

Lava bees? :D

Lots and lots of Apis mellifera honey bees, presumably feeding on the sap that has slowly oozed from slices of a monkeypuzzle tree felled over the winter at Brookwood Cemetery! I assume the slowly warming weather has drawn the sap out?

When the devil inside gets unleashed...

This is for Greg, a better view of the various fallen flag cars in the train he commented on. Apparently the Magma's boxcar loadings were generally headed east, so the local SP car distributer collected emtpy foreign cars for them to load. The cars are about as historic as the locomotive.
