Working on some Yosemite pictures from last fall in HDR (mild)... This lovely quiet, serene image make me laugh. I took a photo walk in the morning and was told this makes a perfect sunset image because Half Dome 'lights' up! So my husband and I journeyed back at the magic hour - only to find about 40 or so other photographers seeking the magic shot! I had to sort of edge my way into an empty spot while the early birds glared at me... many had really fancy equipment and lenses. I had my Nikon D90 and a tripod - and had fun taking many, many shots. Some I took in the 'bracketing' mode and never processed them until today - I am practicing my HDR skills.
From a while back. All real, no tricks, no PS, just a little CaptureNX control point magic.

The wind blows and I catch a glimpse of Kibo at dusk. The light is magic. I rush out of the dining tent, fumble for my film SLR to take some photographs, but the warm glow of the sun on the summit had evaporated. I think only Boon Gan got the magic shot with his Canon D10. Nonetheless, still beautiful. We all came out to savour the views of our only evening in the Great Barrano Valley.
Bitterly cold, fresh snow balanced precariously on tree branches. Wait patiently, the snow falls as dust, catching the bright morning sun. Magic!

A windy, rainy, off-season November walk on the shores of Lake Ontario... a perfect opportunity to get those magic shots that you just can't plan for... I can still feel the cold wind and the creative heat... cheers
