I'll do a blog post on this shortly - I spent some time this afternoon in the Rock Archive gallery in London, and was looking at some really magic shots. I've liked this one since I took it, but hadnt spent much time on it in Photoshop to get rid of the colour wash. Just think it's a bit different from the average music shot, and one that maybe some day might end up on a wall somewhere. well, i can dream!

Shot through thin cloud
This week I had three photos that appealed to me! Most of our days have been quite overcast, but we had sun one morning so I got several photos of ordinary foliage pictured against sparkling snow. This particular image shows the trailing branches of a pine tree just outside my yard, with some shadows in the snow that I made a slightly more blue in Camera Raw. I smudged the pine needles a bit and also added a "twinkle" filter and then muted that a little so it didn't look quite so artificial but still makes what I think is the look of magic! Shot at f/8, 1/400, ISO 125.

Aquí en este lugar sobre el año 724 sucedió un hecho extraordinario que fue contado por trovadores y convertido en la leyenda medieval que hoy conocemos.
En los arbores de la reconquista, Garciximeno, un pequeño rey procedente de Jaca, reclutó cristianos montañeses con la intención de tomar la villa de Aínsa y expulsar musulmanes.
Sobre estos campos que veis hubo gran encuentro y de acercamiento de sangre y cuando los cristianos en inferioridad manifesta perdían la poca moral que les quedaba, de repente apareció una cruz de fuego sobre una encina, la cual enardeció a los que aún resistían y amebrentó a los musulmanes que finalmente tuvieron que rendirse y entregar la plaza. (Ayto de Aínsa- sobrarbe)
A unos 150 metros de la Plaza Mayor, arranca una pista asfaltada hasta los aparcamientos que, continuándola por una pista de tierra, nos llevará tras 1,5 km hasta el lugar donde, según la tradición, se libró la batalla de Sobrarbe.
Allí se levanta este pequeño monumento circular construido en honor a dicha batalla. Se trata de un templete con columnata toscana, hermosa verja de hierro forjado y cubierta piramidal. En su interior se sitúa el emblema de Aínsa y Sobrarbe: La Carrasca coronada por la Cruz.
Originariamente era más sencillo con sólo 4 columnas, pero en 1655 se levantó este templete circular (peristilos) para honrar el simbolismo de esta leyenda que no sólo es blasón de Aínsa y Comarca de Sobrarbe, sino que la carrasca y la cruz también ocupan el primer cuartel del escudo de Aragón.
En el friso podrán leer la historia de su construcción:

Directly in front of the Saint Anthony Hotel is Travis Park in San Antonio, Texas. Several persons took an afternoon siesta on park benches. A few laid on grass rapped up in personal camping bed rolls. Without standard indoor residential necessities, our homeless brothers and sisters still enjoyed this Park's many beautiful flowers.

A cada costat de la portada de l'esglesia apareixen dues làpides amb relleus.
En el relleu situat a la dreta de la porta, amb les mesures 70 cm d'ample i 90 d'alt, veiem igualment dues figures. En aquest cas la part inferior de les figures ha desaparegut, però sembla que hi ha també dues figures, les d'un home i una dona, encara que ara no es puguin identificar. Ocupant l'espai lliure que queda en el fons veiem: en cada angle de la part baixa una roseta de sis pètals; amunt, a la dreta, un crismó (amb alguns dels signes de "XPTS" o la "A" i la " W ", canviats de lloc respecte a l'habitual); entre el crismó i la roseta i enmig de les dues figures, apareixen estrelles de cinc puntes, amb formes diferents, i sobretot la roseta de l'esquerra hi ha una flor de quatre pètals. L'espai restant del fons de la làpida és ocupat per un ziga-zaga realitzat amb una doble línia.
Sota aquest relleu apareixen dos bloc de pedra en forma de cara a manera de mènsules, que recorden les que es poden veure a Sant Joan d'Isil o les d'Isavarre, i que és possible que siguin reaprofitament.
Podríem buscar els orígens o precedents d'aquest tipus de làpides en els frontals de les urnes de l'època romana que s'han conservat a la zona propera a la Vall d'Aran. Tot i així i malgrat el coincidència, en principi hem de considerar estar làpides més aviat com una novetat del segle XII i cal relacionar-les amb enterraments de personatges importants del lloc, que podrien haver tingut un paper important en la construcció de l'església.
Podrien ser Adan i Eva en escenes abans del pecat original.
