I want to believe...
This little collection of 10 LEGO builds is a tribute to all believers out there.
Personally I am a sceptic to most things and have yet to be proven wrong in my boring synical view of the world around me.
I envy some people who live in a different reality.
So, what controversial and/or fantastic things do you believe in?!
PS. Thanks to pictures.by.lars.bergstrom for photos.
The implementation of the final phase of the Bee Network has resulted in the end of the Magicbus operations after many years. A variety of older double deckers were utilised on these routes which ran along the busy student corridors. Here Stagecoach Manchester Dennis Trident / Alexander 17634 - W634 RND is pictured operating Part Route 142 to Withington with an East Lancs bodied sister behind.
What a wonderful world! The most amazing thing about the universe is that we (using the collective "we" for our species) can sort of understand it at all.
If we loose sight of that we end up believing in magic.
If some do so it is understandable.

'Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic'. (Arthur C. Clarke)
Ancient legends speak of giant flying beasts that came from the skies...
This model is a forebody of a Renaissance class exploration spaceship.

PS This model was supposed to be the first part of a much larger spaceship. My idea was to show how advanced technology transforms into new reality, and artificial creations become new nature. I used the citation of the Clarke's third law to refer to the hypothesis that humanity cannot find traces of activity of advanced extraterrestrial civilizations because they are indistinguishable from natural cosmic phenomena. I also wanted to connect this with an ufological theory that aliens were visiting Earth in the past and this was reflected in mythology.
"Soltanto perché è l'evento più naturale e quotidiano la magia appare così incredibile."
(Mario Andrea Rigoni, Variazioni sull'impossibile, 1993)
The light of the day is gone, and the waters of the Pacific Ocean are singing the endless song of waves crashing along the beach. But the darkness reveals this is no ordinary night along the shore. Billions of bioluminescent organisms have been thriving in the waters along the Southern California coast, and at times some waves light up with blue magic as the phytoplankton light up with the water’s disturbance. This was my second foray into trying to capture this long elusive (for me) phenomenon. It was very challenging to figure out where the waves would light up, and to try to frame them. I found 85mm was the best as the waves were only lighting up a bit off shore. An f2.8 70-200 might have been better. Stopping the water movement was pretty impossible as it was so dark. Here I stopped down to f2.5 to try to have at least a little depth of field. It’s hard to describe how neat this is, and if you ever have the opportunity see this when it happens you should try.

The magic of sunsets never ceases to amaze me. It happens everyday, but every day is totally different. I never tire of them, even the boring one. They are all special.

"Come take my hand
You should know me
I've always been in your mind
You know I will be kind
I'll be guiding you
Building your dream
Has to start now
There's no other road to take
You won't make a mistake
I'll be guiding you
You have to believe we are magic
Nothin' can stand in our way
You have to believe we are magic
Don't let your aim ever stray
And if all your hopes survive
Destiny will arrive
I'll bring all your dreams alive
For you
I'll bring all your dreams alive
For you
From where I stand
You are home free
The planets align so rare
There's promise in the air
And I'm guiding you
Through every turn
I'll be near you
I'll come anytime you call
I'll catch you when you fall
I'll be guiding you
You have to believe we are magic
Nothin' can stand in our way..."
MAGIC (excerpt) - Olivia Newton-John, 1980.
Album : Cruise ships Dublin 2016.
The cruise ship 'Disney Magic' sails from Dublin for Liverpool on a very gloomy summer evening.
The ship is one of 4 in the fleet and is a sister to the 'Disney Wonder'. The ship was built by Fincantieri in the Breda ship yard in Venice in 1998.
it was interesting in that the front section was built in Ancona and towed to Venice and joined to the aft section. This of course may explain why 'Goofy' is still messing about the at the back!
Patty Disney is the ships godmother. The ship underwent a major refit in 2013.
Its normal compliment is 1754 passengers although she is licensed to carry 2800. At 294 metres in length she is one of the bigger ships to visit Dublin.
