Cinnamon Sugar Cocoa Butter Handmade Natural Soap
This soap is made with cinnamon sugar fragrance oil. It smells just like cinnamon and sugar, but not too sweet. Too sweet = bad news in my aromaland. I've added tons and tons and tons of cocoa butter to the base of this bar. To top it off, I've enriched with shea butter, sweet almond oil and vegetable glycerin for more moisturizing goodness. It's a very rich bar of soap and will leave you feeling silky smooth.
This would definitely be a bar of soap that I'd wash my hair with too. I use almost all of my plain (meaning no added herbs and stuff) as shampoo bars. My method: Lather up a wash cloth really REALLY good and squeeze it out onto your hair. This is easier then trying to lather your hands and then transfer. Scrub it up and use the remainder for your body. Close your eyes for the hair part though - or ouch! Then rinse and you are all done. You've saved water, time and smell great too. Ah…
Growing your own food isn't just about saving money, it's about so much more. I truly believe that as humans we posses an innate desire or need to take a hand-on role in the production of the food we consume. Whether through growing your own, foraging in the wild, hunting or even going to a local farm, knowing exactly where your food comes from provides a deep sense of appreciation for what you eat.

A round four tier wedding cake iced in white butter cream and black piped swirl design and dots. Finished with pink gerber daisies.
There’s not much I enjoy more than spending a day in the kitchen cooking up all kinds of goodness. Since there are only 2 of us in the house and we don’t eat lots of sweets or grain items, it doesn’t take much time to prepare the food we eat. I’m always happy when there’s a party invite or some other event that allows me to spend the day baking/cooking.
I like to take photos of my food for a few reasons. One being it's nice to have a record of how what you make has turned out. Especially if it's a first-time recipe. The Crumb or texture of the bread turned out quite nice if I do say so myself! I baked it in my Emile Henry Bread & Potato Pot.
I grew up in a Colombia and the long, slow cooking of meat over fire was a part of almost every celebration. I grew to love the taste and always equated it with happiness and celebration.

This is an example of using fresh fruit (Italian Prunes) instead of canned Pineapple.
In an iron skillet melt 1/3 cup butter and 1 cup brown sugar and add a large can of well drained pineapple chunks (or any fresh or canned fruit of your choice sliced into the butter and brown sugar. Set the iron skillet to one side and beat 2 eggs till frothy, add 1 cup sugar and beat till thick. Add 1 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 1 cup of flour and beat addind 1/3 cup juice from canned pineapple or 1/3 cup orange juice. Pour batter over fruit and brown sugar and bake at 325 for 55 minutes or toothpick comes out clean. Take from the oven and run a knife around outside edge, put a plate on top and invert the skillet onto plate.......upside down cake ready to eat with whip cream, ice cream or just plain and warm from the oven.
Note: you can double this and make in a 9 x13 glass or metal pan, just have to melt the butter in the microwave.....also if you don't have an iron skillet a square 9 x9 pan will work.
It’s long been a tradition in my family to gather together on New Year’s Day to eat pork and sauerkraut. When I was young, my grandma was the cook and the entire family packed into her house, cousins, uncles, aunts to help eat the roasters full of kraut that she made. I never liked it growing up, usually I’d eat the tiniest bit of sauerkraut and stuff myself with the delicious dumplings that topped it. It was a meal that had to be eaten on New Year’s day to ensure that the coming year would be a prosperous one.

Cooking from scratch is the best way to ensure that what’s you’re eating is as healthy as it can be. I purchase pastured pork from a friend who raises hogs and I get all the pork simply ground, no spices added for sausage. The butcher shop we use will make nitrate free sausage, bacon and ham, but I prefer not to have them add the spices because I don’t know exactly what they use. Not to mention, when I mix it up myself each time I can make it however I want and tweak the flavors depending on what I’m making. I don’t have to figure out at processing time exactly how much of each type of sausage I want. If I want to make sausage and lentil soup I’ll mix hot Italian spices with the ground pork. If we want to have sausage with pancakes, I mix is savory breakfast sausage spices. Over the years I’ve played around with different spices and come up with a recipe we really love.

The design for the tree and the birds came from the invitation. All of the decorations were hand cut from fondant.
You bake it up into something delicious of course. Usually I bake this into a beautiful big braided bread stuffed with the cranberry apple relish, but today I was too busy for all that braiding so I made rolls instead. I think I'll make a ginger coconut milk glaze to finish them off.

Eighteen pounds of sauerkraut, that's how much I made 10 days ago. People keep asking me, "What are you going to do with all that?". I'll give a few jars away to friends, but we'll eat most it. It will be on our plate every meal until it's gone. The chiots will get some each morning as well. We even eat it for breakfast, head on over to Eat Outside the Bag for more about that and links to my recipe.
all finished and hung up...don't know why its taken me 6 years to finish off the bathroom! still nice and bright, just like a bathroom should be.
Kinda neat looking, seeing the espresso soaked into the edges of the Lady Fingers. The recipe is blogged here

Last but most certainly not least- #dessert 😊 #chocolate #cake along with a couple pieces of chocolate bark, all nestled in a #creamy #soup of #maplesyrup & #vanilla seeds. Was really happy with the cake, which was seriously trial & error, but when Georgie tried it, I swear he was having a mouthal #orgasm 😉😉😉. #Easypeasy #instafood #instafood #foodphotography #foodie #food #ilovefood #madewithlove #madefromscratch #playingwithfood #cookingwithlove #glutenfree #sugarfree #dairyfree #cleaneats #instayum #foodporn #foodbook
