Larvae of Cimbex quadrimaculatus (Hymenoptera, Cimbicidae) according to this post.

Found on a sour cherry tree in early June in central Serbia (South-Eeast Europe).

that was me - all over the place with this - simply nothing to lean on so this is about as good a shot as I can manage in natural light with reversed lens and absolutely no stabilisers...

Lots of breath holding with this one...

I've never seen a yellow ladybird before, and seeing as it has no real spots, I'm not convinced that this is a ladybird at all. But, except for the lack of spots, it LOOKS like a ladybird.

The flowers begin to bloom from the corners of the plant’s big leaves . They start blooming only after sunset around 7 PM, bloom fully around 10 - 11 PM, stay for one hour and then start withering

You Never Let Go Live Concert

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death

Your perfect love is casting out fear

And even when I’m caught in the middle of the storms of this life

I won’t turn back

I know You are near

And I will fear no evil

For my God is with me

And if my God is with me

Whom then shall I fear?

Whom then shall I fear?

Chorus:

Oh no, You never let go

Through the calm and through the storm

Oh no, You never let go

In every high and every low

Oh no, You never let go

Lord, You never let go of me

And I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on

A glorious light beyond all compare

And there will be an end to these troubles

But until that day comes

We’ll live to know You here on the earth

Chorus:

Yes, I can see a light that is coming for the heart that holds on

And there will be an end to these troubles

But until that day comes

Still I will praise You, still I will praise You

Megacerus discoidus bug on morning glory. I usually hide the urban surroundings of my photo site area by cropping out the man made objects. I could have done so in this photo, but thought I would give a peek at where I get a lot of my shots. This one was taken in the back of an auto repair station where morning glories regale the chain link fence. In the right background is a truck in the parking lot behind the shop.

From my wife's flower garden.

Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand--Never had gotten a good look at these hover fly's mouth parts. The proboscis really stretches out so it can reach the nectar deep in flowers. Used Canon 100L IS lens with 25mm ext tube.

I was so glad I caught them, even when making out they're fast...;)

for those of you who may not know, photographing ladybugs is one of the biggest challenges for nature photographers. they are notoriously reclusive and avoid the camera lens relentlessly, moving into the bushy environment on opposite sides of stems and leaves making it difficult to get a lens near them. when you do actually get a shot, it is almost guaranteed to get glare, because of the domelike wing shells.

however, when you do get a good shot you are almost always surprised by what you get. for example, in this shot, I had no idea there were so many aphids on the plant, I was just trying to get a relatively well focused shot of the ladybug with the front helmet and antenna in the image.

"Thank you for all of comments!!"

water droplet with reflection (and refraction) in a yellow rose. the circle in the middle of the droplet is probably my camera lens and what looks like solar flares around it is probably cloud formations behind me. the droplet sat on a petal where it formed a ridge. I only took about three or four shots before the lens touched the droplet and the scene was gone.

katydid nymph on primrose blossom

This waterdrop was hanging about 1.5 meters above me inside the Cool House. Thou I was using my Sigma 150 mm, there was no way I could get it closer to full my frame. Guess it’s my beginner’s luck to get it this sharp and clear :)

The refraction inside the waterdrop is actually the Cool House itself. The blue color is the top glass ceiling roof against the blue sky.
