i took a series of photos of these two ants inside a trumpet vine flower blossom yesterday. the stamen and pistil of the flower formed a geometrically pleasing shape that reminded me of an elaborate perfume bottle. the title just popped into my head.

Does the road wind up-hill all the way?
Yes, to the very end.
Will the day's journey take the whole long day?
From morn to night, my friend.
But is there for the night a resting-place?
A roof for when the slow dark hours begin.
May not the darkness hide it from my face?
You cannot miss that inn.
Shall I meet other wayfarers at night?
Those who have gone before.
Then must I knock, or call when just in sight?
They will not keep you standing at that door.
Shall I find comfort, travel-sore and weak?
Of labour you shall find the sum.
Will there be beds for me and all who seek?
Yea, beds for all who come.~

Prachuap Khiri Khan, Thailand--This little bee fly was maybe 3-4mm wingspan so I had to use a 25mm Ext Tube on my Canon 100mm f2.8L macro lens.
in early spring a number of blue flowers appear in my area, like this blue scilla, or the lavender blue chionodoxa. they are very small flowers and the blue scilla tend to be close to the ground with the stamen pointing downward. all the makings for a dirty photographer.
I found him in a blooming Queen Anne's Lace. He rolled up in a ball so I brought him inside for a shot. While watching him he suddenly spread his legs in a threatening position. (See Comment section.)

A late edition for Happy Monday Blues, including a sweet quote from one of my favorite jazz & blues singers. Snapped this last week, along with lots of additional late summer floral shots I'm hoping to clear out of the queue!

Another withered & worn coneflower from late October. He's clearly fighting the good fight...not sure if he's winning or not though.

I'm not sure who told this little hoverfly that pollen was good for the skin and eyesight, but he's obviously giving it a go...well, either that or his mother forgot to teach him how to eat.
I love how he's holding on to the stem with his two front legs and getting his tongue right in there.
Another quick collection, this one of critters big & small. :)
