This specimen appears to be carrying along a few mites.

Macro of an interesting flower encountered near our wattle friends next door : ) I love the way these stamen rise up with confidence and authority.

Black-Eyed Susan Rudbeckia Irish Eyes: Hey--I just realized that I can now shoot flowers outdoors year-round ...and I don't mean frozen buds sticking out of the snow. I think I will do a week-long pictorial of flowers to celebrate. :)

PS: Please correct me if I get the flower identification wrong. Thanks to my friend Sarah for the eagle-eye correction. :)

I discovered yesterday our hummingbirds had gone, and then this flower opened before my eyes. I watched the whole thing from start to finish. It was awesome! When nature takes away one thing of beauty it replaces it with another, yes?

still got this flu bugging me.. I may have to take a flickr break and have a long rest... I can feel my body getting weaker each day... time for a vacation, I guess!

enjoy your week, dear friends!

The other day I was watering my garden and all of a sudden this beautiful Eastern Tiger Swallowtail came fluttering by...Nice combo on my Rhododendron isn't it? lol Got lucky there..that's for sure...........Glad you can see it and smile too !!

"Adult males are yellow, with four black "tiger stripes" on each fore wing. The trailing edges of the fore and hind wings are black which is broken with yellow spots. On the medial margin of the hind wing next to the abdomen there are small red and blue spots."

"Eastern Tiger Swallowtails often rest with their wings fully spread, particularly if the sun is out."

The end of the season is near here. I thought I should check the place where, last year, I shot, at the end of September, my best shots of the season, of mating Aeshna mixta... and this year again, they were there, ready to give me my little reward before all the odes disappear for another winter.

err..sorry it's a bit out of focus...but among 3 shots i have, this one has the best bokeh :P HBW!
