Things I ♥ Month Continues! Have you noticed that I'm trying to make this month's list half the hedonistic things I cherish (hello, Ben & Jerry's!), and half dedicated towards hopefully helpful photography-related things? OK, good--I didn't want to appear too shallow.

The Golden Hour: Sometimes known as magic hour, this is the amazing time of day (usually the first hour after sunrise, and the last hour before sunset) when the quality of the light is softer, warmer in hue, and the shadows are longer. It gives all of your shots this incredible warmth and relaxed tone. Ahhhhhhhhhh. :)

Big Love

Note: Heartfelt thanks to my friend Anthony, for the incredible testimonial! He does more with an iPhone & his stunning vision than most do with a full gear bag. Check him out.

Questa è una foto riproposta, per mostrare ad alcuni amici, cosa si può realizzare con la semplice aggiunta di anelli distanziatori, ad una normale ottica, non macro. Qui un Nikkor 24-120 con tre anelli distanziatori.

Got for Christmas 24 color pencils from Faber-Castell. But not for arts, decoration or coloring, nor for painting. The intention, inspired by some other photos do create some nice macros.

This photo was created for the Flickr group Macro Mondays, the theme is New, something that is new for me or represents hope for the new year.

Can’t say Macro photography is new for me, at the moment I own 3 Macro lenses, on from Canon a 100 mm, one from Tamron a 180 mm and the newest one from Fuji a 80 mm. However buying pencil for the purpose of photographing them is new, even better the were a gift. So, I am full of hope and looking forward to create some nice macros and other photos with the new pencils

For starters a series of 3 photos mostly of different shades of red and blue and one BW. Back. As underground some kitchens cutting board or chopping board to get some more texture. Light is simple, sun and for getting less dark shadows a mirror behind. Or even double shadows from the sun and the mirror.

Feel free to leave comments and constructive feedback. No P1/C1 or seen in group and similar.

It's a struggle to achieve. I haven't found it yet. Just when you think you see a solution in sight it all fades away again.

Things I ♥ Month Continues! You know I have my deep love for Bokeh in a Jar, so it only makes sense that I would love...

Depth of Field: DoF (as it's more commonly known here on Flickr), is the portion of a photograph that appears in focus, while the remainder of the image is defocused...or what I like to call a-w-e-s-o-m-e. For me, the more shallow the DoF, the more my heart skips a beat. In fact, do you see my heart (which happened naturally in-camera)?

Note: Speaking of friends, I want to thank Lynda, for writing the most wonderful testimonial! Her stream is filled with amazing wildlife & macro shots, so please pop over now! :)

Depth of Field gets very tricky with a point and shoot camera in macro mode. This appears to be a red snout beetle.

This must be the way the Hairy Belly Striped bee got his name.....

Don't worry, guys... it's just a small figurine....lol

I am a RAT!

Rat people are so charming and attractive they are always surrounded by friends and admirers. They can also be lone tumbleweeds, seldom making lasting friendships. Known as Perfectionists, they never want to lose face. It takes an understanding friend to get them to "put on the dancing plumes." Rat people have vivid imagination and are known for creating extraordinarily magic moments in time. Not surprisingly, the sensitive Rats have the gift of insight and clairvoyance, so you better watch out what you think around them! Rats enjoy being leaders and pacesetters and usually enjoy extraordinary success in life.

When water rats talk, people listen. Commanding and eloquent, always the center of attention, the Water Rats also have a soft side that endears them to the world. When the world needs, Water Rats are there. Humanitarian fighters against hunger, illness, sadness, they try to bring happiness to others through their compassionate endeavors and smiling warmth. When the world wants a friend, it's the loyal and sincere Water Rat which draws them in. The Water Rat has a successful career but money-wise, it's pretty much middle of the road. Changing free-spending ways could lead to financial security if they are willing to make the effort. Their natural charisma attracts members of the opposite sex like wildfire, but Water Rats often don't set their standards high enough and are quite indiscriminate in seeking love affairs, until they finally settle down later in life. Once this happens, they advance pretty far exhibiting oodles of charm with their loved ones.

Art is both creation and recreation. Of the two ideas, I think art as recreation or as sheer play of the human spirit is more important.
