If you are a woodlouse, this is the last thing you want to see - a female woodlouse spider. Just look at those armour piercing fangs! A medium sized spider (for the UK), this one is about 13mm long in the body so about 25mm, or 1 inch, overall. They are very colourful and can be found under bricks, pots and pieces of wood in the garden. They don't spin a web for catching prey but do make a silk tunnel to hide in during the day (see the comment below); at night they hunt prey by ambush, often woodlice but sometimes other invertebrates - woodlice make up most of their diet as they are so plentiful.
Let's see...recently we've been to Seattle, the county fair, and to the flower garden. How about a quick spin around my [still new] city? Here we go... :)
Note: Having missed most of the summer here on Flickr, I've got lots & lots of photos to post--thus the daily multiples. So please don't feel as though you have to comment on all (or any). You rock just for stopping by! :)

I bought an amaryllis bulb in early December and I was hoping she would be flowering by Christmas but sadly, it was not to be. Fingers crossed though that she will be revealing her beauty in time for the new year

Things I ā„ Month Continues! We've talked about Winter, and we've talked about Spring...but what about the other seasons?
Fall: Absolutely my favorite of the 4 seasons, Autumn is a time for romance, falling leaves, and bundling up in sweaters! Don't you just love the rustle of leaves and the crisp, fresh air? It's also a time for finding colorful displays of nature like this one from October! What's your favorite season?
Note: This shot is dedicated to my two dear friends, Nicole and Robyn, who left me speechless with the most touching & tremendous testimonials. If you want to see immense talent in both words & images, visit their streams now. :)

Shot created for Macro Monday's - Socket Theme.
This is a 10 pin Hirose, output and return socket for a Sound Devices 552 mixer.
This was my everyday mixer while working back in the mid 2000's to early 2010's. These are very good machines and they last a long time. This one still works perfectly to this day. It just isn't a very good recorder like my current SD 668.
Shot using a Canon FD 50mm f3.5 SSC lens and a 5mm extension tube.

"Get Down on It" Week Continues! A 7-day celebration of looking down our noses at our subjects, much like King Henry VIII did.
Painting: Chicago was thunderstorming all day yesterday, so I spent the morning in the corner of my studio where I go to paint, but mostly I watched the rain pelt the windows. Ahhhhhhh. Well, you know what happened next: a click of the shutter...then a nap. :)
My talented friend Kim also shot paint brushes yesterday, because great creative minds think alike. :)

MTB inner tube or bicycle tube valve inner cores. Normally not seen, because itās hidden within the valves outer enclosure. For size reference, one valve core has a total length of approx. 19 mm. At a repair shop, the take them out with a special tool, to flatten the bicycle tires fast, and then screw them in again.
The valve cores were arranged on metallized bubble foil envelopes, normally used for transport and storage of ESD sensitive parts or PCBās.
Taken at approx 22:00 local time on Monday, so still enougt time before the dead line.
Feel free to leave comments and constructive feedback. No P1/C1 or seen in group and similar.
It's only the second time in about 3 years (thanks Mum for warning me there was one in your garden) that I get to shoot one of these guys. And always on the same plant (aneth I think)
Aren't their colours just amazing?
This will become an "Old World swallowtail" (Papilio machaon)... (I hope I'm right with the name).
Taken from a single flower of a bunch of peonies which I bought on Thursday during a quick foray into Aix-en-Provence for an appointment. Peonies bring me so much pleasure š
Have a great weekend everyone! š

Things I ā„ Month Continues! I know it's not healthy to go from a summery beach shot 2 days ago to the bitter cold of Chicago in December, but this wintry landscape reveals another long-time love of mine...
Fenceh: No, not plain fences...fenceH! This is what happens when you combine a fence with bokeh...you get fenceh! Some pronounce it fenc-keh, and this is equally lovable. And if you like photographing fences or just staring at amazing pics of them, then you need to head over to ~~fence friday~~, where they serve up some of the best fenceh around! :)
