Distraction As The Survival Tool -

If David Copperfield can vanish the Statue of Liberty, so can caterpillars become an illusionist. My lens peered half-heatedly at the gummy stuck on a leaf and to my surprise, the carroty jelly is a little worm in disguise. Flavorsome licorice in the middle and piquant tangerine on both sides, I think highly of the deception he devised. The orange stands out and the black fits in, optical illusion gave him the opportunity to exist. Crawling slowly in the dead of night, he is confident he can get away. In total darkness, he vanished and divide into two. The spotted wood owl stood at the brink of confusion, not knowing which end to pick.

waited and waited for the breeze to still, which never happened - so i'll settle for the sharpest of the batch since i really liked how the long, angled stems complement the subject

A day in Clumber Park, what a great place for macro, I met a massive hornet for the first time and while I tried to dare and get close to take a few pic's, his friend another massive hornet sneaked into my coat, lucky I was able to scream loud enough to scare him away. ;))))

Growing up I always called these stink bugs and if mishandled, would usually be given a good dose of the smelly chemical produced by a gland on their abdomen. I’m sure this odor helps protect against predators and certainly would make me put them down. This particular individual was a constant visitor to the bramble bush in the field next door to my house. I really enjoyed photographing it.

Shot at a local lake.

I have seen what I think is a jewel wasp outside on the wall, but when I got back with my camera it had long gone, there where plenty of these but I am not sure what this is yet, so hopefully I could get the jewel wasp tomorrow.

The Party -

August is the season to mate and you can count lovers in every corner. The sooty bugs were here first so they got the upper hand and occupied the seedy bed. Another pair in chestnut brown arrived for an endurance challenge and I became the third party cheering them on. The male plant a seed to grow and the female ferment their love in her belly. Hoo! Hoo! Look at them; fused twins trying to walk in the opposite directions always look like clowns.

Outside its normal habitat decimating corn and bean fields, a Spotted Cucumber Beetle seems a little confused in the chrysthanthemum bed.
