A new neighbour building a house.

I spent about 6 hours this weekend wandering around forests keeping an eye out for jumping spiders with no luck at all.

I found this guy on my front door.

... and in utter contrast to the previous photo ... !

Another spider, not seen this one before!

Some more backyard wonders.. Love spring :D!!

This is a black widow in the pumpkin patch just outside my front door in Long Beach, CA. Because black widows only come out after sundown, this is taken with a flash. Taken in macro mode.

Perfect camouflage as bird dung. The only give-away is the symmetry of the spider.

A couple of more natural light stacks of the jumping spider. Stacked using Helicon focus.

Taken without a macro, but with a simple 18-105 :P

These two spiders were having a battle near Gallery Stratford. Here are some highlights. WHOA! Amazing!

Taken with the Laowa 60 mm Super Macro on Pentax K-S2.

Found this lovely Walnut Orb weaver (Nuctenea umbratica) out in Bernwood Forest on Sunday. Makes a change to see one out in the wilds away from human habitation. Although it was on a man-made gate post....Oh and out in daylight too :-)

At first I thought it was a damselfly that got caught in the web of this Argiope versicolor. After looking closely I realized it's a phasmid or commonly known as the stick insect.

Phasmids are very cryptic and can be very difficult to detect visually. But putting a leg into the web of this female Araneid spells certain doom.

Can you see the spider?

Primeras pruebas de foto macro, zuiko 14-42 invertido. Falta enfoque de los ojos, una pena.
