First blooms of these just opened this week. I new you would all want to see them. Rather fascinating flower really. They are Wildflowers that my wife swt snookie found 10 years or so ago at a plant/garage sale that have now naturalized in several areas of our yard! This patch of them is just below the Old Fish/Youngsters pond where Neelix has retired !

Another version of Els Josepets, inspired by Raquel Méndez, who was mistaken when giving an invitation to the group Macromanía to my previous photo of this convent.

ENGLISH

The Carmelite convent dels Dolors, also known as “els Josepets” were founded on 1735 thanks to a legacy of Mr. Ramon de Sambassar. While it was in construction, from that date to 1738, the monks lodged themselves in houses of la Geltrú. The church did not finish until 1784.

In 1835 the community left the convent, because the events of Barcelona, and the church underwent the destruction of its furniture. The place was destined to barracks. The Carmelite ones no longer returned never to the convent, and in 1847 the authorization was requested to transfer the hospital. In 1853 the hospital passed to occupy the conventual building, although the church returned to reopen to the cult.

CASTELLANO

Day 35/365

Week 5 Theme: Macro Mania

Found this little bee having a rest on an old log covered in moss. She's really well camouflaged and I nearly missed her. After a while she'd obviously rested and warmed up and flew off to continue her journey.

Have a wonderful day friends!!!!!!

Flickr is giving me big problems today hope it gets fixed!! Hardly can log on!!!!

April 11, 2009

Some experiments with my new 100mm macro lens wide open turn out well - others are immediately deleted. I thought the extremely limited focus as well as the colorful bokeh in this one was interesting, so it made the cut...

I wanted to be all philosophical about this image, but instead, I will let the photo speak for itself...

(additional news: This was voted to 1st place for the Jan 2009 contest @ Planet Earth Flowers! Whoo Hoo!! My first win on a flickr contest! Thanks!)

These tulips are for you:) Thanks for visiting, TGIF!

Ugh! It's snowing AGAIN here.

Hope it's sunny where you are!

Thanks for stopping by and having a look or leaving a comment. I appreciate and look forward to every one!!

Have a great day!

Moving well into the second week of rain, so it's macro mania time.

Day 34/365

Week 5 Theme: Macro Mania

Merlin was very patient while I tried to get some macro shots of him. I think it's the least he could do after 'helping' me the other day by head-butting my tripod.

Now to give him some of his favourite biscuits as a reward.

ODC-Macro Mania (Card)

Since I'm such a fan of mushrooms I had to buy these informative cards. Each card in the deck of 52 has a different mushroom on it. I got them at my local market. I love things with illustrations on them. I chose this one because it was the most colourful one in the box.

I'm still in the midst of a very nasty bout of Macro Mania.

I think this is slightly different than the one I posted on the 4th of July. Anyway I liked the angle of this shot so here's another look!

Shield Bug. Thanks sandesh1477, John and Brian for the ID.
